Rush Limbaugh Isn’t the Only Media Misogynist By Kirsten Powers

Rush Limbaugh apologized on Saturday for calling a Georgetown Law student a slut for testifying about contraception and starting a firestorm of outrage. Kirsten Powers says the liberals who led the charge need to start holding their own side accountable.

Did you know there is a war on women?

Yes, it’s true. Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher, Matt Taibbi, and Ed Schultz have been waging it for years with their misogynist outbursts. There have been boycotts by people on the left who are outraged that these guys still have jobs. Oh, wait. Sorry, that never happened.

Boycotts are reserved for people on the right like Rush Limbaugh, who finally apologized Saturday for calling a 30-year-old Georgetown Law student, Sandra Fluke, a “slut” after she testified before congress about contraception. Limbaugh’s apology was likely extracted to stop the departure of any more advertisers, who were rightly under pressure from liberal groups outraged by the comments.

It wasn’t just a matter of calling someone a slut; he called her names to emphasize the false position that she was selling herself, no different than a prostitute (something else he called her, haven’t heard THAT apology yet) and that WE were PAYING for her loose lifestyle. Rush, it’s medicine, and paying for IUDs or birth control is cheaper and more logical than paying for pregnancy. I’m sure you’d like the world to just do it right and be perfectly moral, but without those who break the morality codes, things would just get worse and worse until the man who commits the smallest of sins is put to death.

    Get over yourself.

Extra-marital sex was around for thousands of years. We developed civilization, a code of laws, and have actually been able to see ourselves evolve as a species over a few thouand years, all long before the institution of marriage every came around.

Stuff your religious piety. Use those rules when making YOUR decisions, but don’t expect the rest of us to do so. For the most part, the church’s teachings have proven to be of ignorance, or worse, enslavement to the church.

Sorry, Rush, but you, Hannity, and Beck are no longer worthy of my attention, let alone my efforts or money or faith.
