“It is the paper money created out of thin air that creates the unfair distribution of wealth that is making the middle class fall more behind and the poor more poor. Newly created money and credit in a paper money system benefits those that can access the money first and buy capital goods and real property at one price before the new money circulates and makes all prices go up. Wages also do not keep up with inflation and that creates another squeeze on the middle class.” – Kenneth Gerbino former chairman of the American Economic Council

Half Time Show
Please join me in writing letters to the NFL and letting them know just how we feel about their all time low in Super Bowl programming. Now in all honesty I didn’t have a dog in the fight insofar as the two teams playing for the NFL Championship. Actually I could have lived a pretty normal life regardless of which of the two teams won. BUT as most of you have already guessed my take on the National Anthem as screeched out by Christina Aguilera was a bit negative. As was my opinion of the Half-Time show as performed by The Black Eyed Peas. Just so their can be no doubt in the minds of anyone including the residents of The People’s Republic of San Francisco, my opinion of the Black Eyed Peas’ so called show at half-time ranked somewhere between watching Dung Beetles on the Animal Planet and watching Cockroaches breed. Now in all fairness to “The Peas”, I had to form this opinion by only catching roughly 10 second segments as watching “The Black Eyed Peas” for any greater length of time in any one sitting could give me a case of, as Jonathan Winters called it, The Green-Apple-Quick-Step. If anyone in the Freedom Loving Worker’s Province of Massachusetts needs an explanation then I would suggest contacting Barney Frank.
Once again, I am sure you all know my feelings already on ANYONE attempting to turn our National Anthem into some type of Rock/Hip-Hop/Country and Western tune where the focus is on the voice range of the person singing/screeching/bellowing/whining or any other verb you might choose to use. I also am not sure who is to blame for choosing Christina Aguilera to perform our National Anthem but whom ever is to blame, whether it is the NFL or FOX Television Network or a combination of these two or someone else entirely different from these two entities should be punished using the fair standards of Sharia Law. Maybe I am being a bit harsh in my judgment but is it asking too much for the performer to actually KNOW THE WORDS? I can remember learning the words to the Star Spangled Banner PRIOR to entering the first grade which would have made me 5 years old. I still know them just is I learned the Pledge of Allegiance prior to attending school and I still remember those words. So, either Ms. Aguilera has forgotten the words OR she never knew them to begin with OR she possesses the intelligence of a Porta-Potty.
Without a doubt this was the worst set of commercials I have ever seen during a Super Bowl. Of course there might have been a couple I missed but out of the hoards of commercials I saw during the Super Bowl I actually thought a couple of the Volkswagen commercials were reasonably well done but most of the others were really stupid and certainly did not approach some of the great commercials in the past; particularly some of the Budweiser commercials featuring the Clydesdales and of course the Coke commercial featuring Mean Joe Green and my personal favorite of all times was the Cat Roundup. But this year’s commercials were really lame as a whole
And of course I have somewhat of a problem with Chrysler who spent something like $9,000,000 on a commercial and besides being a pretty stupid commercial, I believe that Chrysler is operating on taxpayer bailout dollars.
Anyway, as for me I think the NFL leadership has been attacked and bitten by rabid marmosets and have additionally be stricken with an attack of lunacy insofar as their approval of the pre-game; half-time; and post-game shows and we might as well throw in the sideline squacks who detain the coaches leaving the field at half-time and returning to the field following half-time and posing really stupid questions to these coaches who have a bit more on their minds than pacifying some female personalities who more than likely don’t know a screen pass from a screen porch.
So with that being said and with the probability of an NFL Lockout next season I believe I will bid the NFL a fond ADIOS until they get their minds right. There is plenty of high school and college football to keep me satisfied.
This past week I have heard several sound bites of Janet Napolitano telling us all just how safe the US/Mexican Border is along with what a great job she is doing. I have also heard from law enforcements along this same border telling us that things are completely out of control. Now just as soon as one of the Border area Sheriffs or Police Chiefs give their thoughts on the matter we heard Janet Napolitano tell us that she has Walked; Flown; and Rode Horseback all along the Mexican Border and has not observed any problem areas.
OK let’s take her first mode of transportation.. she walked…. I will venture to say that she either didn’t walk in the troubled areas OR SHE IS LYING. Anyway, I didn’t think Jabba The Hut walked…. I always thought Jabba more or less slithered.
Second mode… flown. Must have been in a C-130 transport or maybe she hitched a ride behind the Wicked Witch of the West on a broom.
Third mode….Rode horseback…. Had to have been a team of the Budweiser Clydesdales….. Perhaps that is why they were absent in Super Bowl commercials.
Anyway, Janet Napolitano is no more believable than any other member of this current administration including Barack Hussein Obama.
Now just so everyone will not think that I am only on the Democrats/Progressives/Socialists, I also heard some clips from an appearance at some function by former President, George W. Bush. Now I have always thought that President Bush was much more honest than the media gave him credit for being, and I do believe that he had the guts to take action in some cases but I never did agree with his views on immigration. I still do not agree with him. I heard one clip of him talking about too many Americans were falling into a pattern of “isms” which he elaborated to mean “Nativism”; Separatism; and some other type of “ism”. Once again he sounded like he did back in about 2005 when he and John McCain and Fat Teddy and Lindsey Graham got their “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” stuffed up their backsides.
Ah, but things didn’t stop with former President Bush, Laura Bush and daughter Barbara Bush also had to slip in their views toward “Freedom of Choice” and Gay Marriage.
Since I have often said that former Presidents should be seen and not heard I must say that I mean ALL FORMER PRESIDENTS.
Last week while drinking coffee with a friend at the local Target Store we had a conversation with a pretty remarkable young man. He is an employee of Target and is always friendly and has a pleasant smile for everyone. It was actually on our coldest morning and he had on a heavy coat and you could tell that he was very cold. He got something warm to drink and sat at the next table from us. During the conversation he made the comment that he had to walk a couple of blocks to work, which raised the question of ownership or access to a car.
He then told us that he was actually classified as legally blind and could not get a license. Then pursuant to our questions this young man told us a bit about himself. He was actually from Missouri where he worked at one of the Target Stores. He requested and received a transfer from that store to the one in San Angelo where he needed to move so that he could help out his 93 year old aunt. The aunt actually lived in a small community about 40 miles North of San Angelo and since he could not drive, he spent $8 per day getting to and from work in a bus service for handicapped people. He said that recently his Dad and other brothers and sisters had convinced the 93 year old aunt to give some thought to an assisted living facility. She did and chose to move to a facility in Kansas.
The young man’s Father and others were handling the sale of the aunt’s property so the young man could move to town and be closer to public transportation. He said that he had a problem from birth with being able to focus on any one thing for any length of time. He had a device which assisted him in reading bar codes and another device which helped him in distance viewing. He said that he really considered himself lucky since he was born with this condition and he felt that he was much better off than someone who was born with good vision and the lost it for various reasons.
He said that Target was working on getting him transferred to a Target Store in Kansas so that he could be closer to his family. All in all I thought this was a really remarkable young man with a really positive attitude and outlook on life. My views on the Target Stores also rose considerably when I checked and found that they did everything possible to help their employees re-locate when requested.
A few minutes later I checked out and this young man did the honors and from dealing with him at the cash register you would never know that he was disabled in any way. So, every time I hear someone whining about their job or about their situation in life, I will think of this really nice young man and will once again appreciate his overall outlook and attitude.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism”, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened….. “The British newspaper The Telegraph has reported that part of the price which President Obama paid to get Russia to sign the START treaty, limiting nuclear arms, was revealing to the Russians the hitherto secret size of the British nuclear arsenal…..To betray vital military secrets of this country’s oldest ally behind the backs of the British government, is something that should set off alarm bells. Following inn the wake of earlier betrayals of prior American commitments to put a nuclear shield in Eastern Europe, and the undermining of Israel and calculated insults to its prime minister, this pattern raises serious, and perhaps most unthinkable, questions about the Obama administration’s foreign policy.”… THOMAS SOWELL

New Jersey Governor Christie is looking better and better to me. I saw several reports where Governor Christie has vetoed legislation which would have funded Planned Parenthood. He has also stood up to the teacher’s unions as well as other unions in his state and that takes some guts. And apparently he did it without feeling pain, BECAUSE IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
Great news, Beavis and Butthead are coming back to MTV. Boy what a thrill. This only shows the level of today’s television programming. Hey! I wonder if they are going to get John McCain to do their voices? If you listen really close you will hear the similarities.
And maybe I’m wrong but I think it is about time to hear a little less out of the mouth of Megan McCain. She is starting to sound awfully “Progressive”. But then, why should that surprise any of us? Her father is Progressive to the core. How in the hell did he ever get to be the Presidential candidate of the Republican Party?
I was listening, momentarily, to Shepard Smith the other day and noticed that when he referred to the Pro-Mubarak people he referred to them as “Thugs” but when he spoke of the rock and Molotov Cocktail throwing Anti-Mubarak group he called them “Protestors”. Fair and balanced alright. Perhaps that is why Shep is on the Varmint’s List.
I listened momentarily the other morning to ESPN Radio and heard one of their boob reporters say; “Everyone wants Tiger Woods to get back the form he had prior to his problems. Golf just is not the same.” Well apparently this ESPN reporter has made a slight error since not “Everyone” is interested in Tiger getting his form back. I’ll bet the other guys on the tour are not the least bit interested in seeing him return to his previous level. And this reporter obviously has me confused with someone who gives a crap about Tiger’s form. Once again, political correctness rears its ugly head.
Speaking of jobs, I can remember a number of years back on a very hot summer day in Hobbs, New Mexico where the temperature was in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit and another officer and I were driving down North Turner Street when we passed a business which had hired someone to dress up in a dog suit with a huge rubber and cloth head and flag down cars at the entrance to a business. I told the other guy that every time we thought our job was demanding that we should think of that person in that dog suit standing out in the blazing sun and we would then realize that we had it pretty damn good.
Well, Varmint Keith Olbermann was not out of a job very long. After being FIRED from MSNBC and their dozen or so viewers, he has now been employed by Current TV which is the TV Network owned by Al Gore. Now there is a match made somewhere. Who says GOD does not have a sense of humor?
Am I wrong or have the world’s most articulate and intelligent human (Barack Hussein Obama) and his Secretary of State, Nurse Ratchet (Hillary Clinton) changed their demands on just how rapidly Egyptian President Mubarak MUST vacate his position? Seems as if during the first hours both of these mutts were calling for Mubarak’s IMMEDIATE resignation. Seems as if they are both now waffling a bit on their demands. But then again I guess that their demands are sort of like their statistical information in the fact that they are poorly thought out and accuracy is an unknown characteristic.
I heard one report yesterday and did not catch the name of the Senator/Congressman who was presenting a piece of legislation which would make it ILLEGAL for anyone to sell A TOY FIREARM to a child. It would be OK to sell that toy to an adult who I guess in turn could give the toy to a child. But this approaching total madness. THESE CLOWNS MUST BE REPLACED. Either that or should have the Vulcan Death Grip applied to them by Mr. Spock… or anyone else who is proficient at it.
One last item from Fort Worth, Texas. Last week a special order was issued by Chief Jeff Halstead and anyone violating this order would likely be fired. The Fort Worth Star Telegram reported that the order prohibits police employees from CONSIDERING “race; color; gender; age; national origin; religion; disability; economic status; sexual orientation; gender expression; gender identity; transgender status; membership in a cultural group or OTHER INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERISTICS or distinctions while performing police duty.
OK Chief now that we know what we CANNOT consider, how about issuing another special order telling your officers what they CAN CONSIDER. Or another option is that your as could resign and go to work for the ACLU or some other idiotic organization.
Mr. Spock, go pay this boob a visit.
Join me in writing the NFL and pointing out their shortcomings insofar as their judge of talent. Also join me in a total boycott of the National Football League next season. This is about all I can bear for another week.
The upheaval in Egypt reminds us of lessons that, despite decades of warnings, Americans have consistently sidestepped: the United States and the rest of the world will depend on oil for the indefinite future; global oil markets remain hostage to political crises that cannot be predicted or controlled; and we have not taken the prudent steps that would reduce — though not eliminate — our vulnerability to catastrophic oil interruptions.
Just what Egypt’s crisis will do to oil markets is, as yet, unclear. Driven by cold weather and strong demand from developing countries, oil prices were already increasing before Egyptians took to the streets.
After averaging about $2.80 a gallon for most of last year, U.S. gasoline prices pierced the $3 barrier in December. Prices rose further on the turmoil, but the gains could be short-lived. Egypt produces only about 700,000 barrels a day. That’s not much compared to global demand of nearly 90 million barrels daily (mbd). If all of Egypt’s production halted, it could be replaced because the world now has about 4 mbd of surplus capacity elsewhere.
A greater risk involves oil shipments. The Suez Canal and the SuMed pipeline (Suez-Mediterranean) together now move about 3 mbd between Asia and Europe. If these supplies were blocked, prices would almost certainly rise. But, again, accommodations would be made. Tankers would be rerouted; shipments via other pipelines would increase.
The real flash point would occur if a cascade of political turmoil cut production from major suppliers: Saudi Arabia (present output: 8.5 mbd), Kuwait (2.3 mbd), Iran (3.7 mbd), Iraq (2.4 mbd) or Algeria (1.3 mbd). This danger will remain no matter how the present crisis ends.
What can we do?
Does access breed obsequiousness? One would be hard-pressed to come to another conclusion with regard to Sunday night’s chat-fest between Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly and president Barack Obama. If that was an example of Mr. O’Reilly’s contention that his TV domain is a “no spin zone,” one might consider such a contention to be utterly laughable. Yet the exchange revealed something immensely troubling about the president which, once again, was ignored by the same mainstream media which has largely ignored the troubling revelation that this president sold out Britain to Russia to get the START treaty ratified. Who got sold out this time? Israel, and by extension, Jewish Americans as well.
This is the critical exchange from that interview:
O’REILLY: The Muslim Brotherhood, a great concern to a lot of people. Are they a threat to the USA?
OBAMA: I think that the Muslim Brotherhood is one faction in Egypt. They don’t have majority support in Egypt. They are —
O’REILLY: Are they a threat?
OBAMA: But they are well-organized and there are strains of their ideology that are anti-U.S. There’s no doubt about it. But here’s the thing that we have to understand, there are a whole bunch of secular folks in Egypt, there are a whole bunch of educators and civil society in Egypt that wants to come to the fore as well. And it’s important for us not to say that our only two options are either the Muslim Brotherhood or a suppressed Egyptian people.
O’REILLY: But you don’t want the Muslim Brotherhood…
OBAMA: What I want is a representative government in Egypt. And I have confidence that if Egypt moves in an orderly transition process, that we will have a government in Egypt that we can work with together as a partner.
Hey Bill, you know what any responsible interviewer does with that exchange? He follows it up with the bottom-line question: Mr. President, will you unconditionally condemn the Muslim Brotherhood for the historically virulent terrorist organization it is, or not?
Doug Ibendahl at RepublicanNewsWatch.com offered an eye-opening commentary yesterday entitled State GOP officials working to push Hispanics out of Party, describing how immaturity and power politics dampened the biennial convention of the IL Republican National Hispanic Assembly in Dixon, IL this past weekend. Keith Liscio also penned a commentary today at Examiner.com, Split in Hispanic Republican organization reflects rift in larger Illinois GOP, which further describes a rift that goes deeper into the Illinois GOP.
The good news, however, is that a team of conservative members led by Rafael Rivadeneira were elected to two-year terms. The bad news – a group of power-thirsty attendees planned for (they had booked their own room previously at a separate location – Loveland Community House) and disrupted the event for the purpose of making their own power grab. Leading the disruptive shouting from the floor in an attempt to drown out the parliamentarian was Robert Enriquez, RINO candidate in 2010 for Secretary of State. Also vocal in the disruption were Chris Hage, Mark Aguilera, Angel Garcia (GOP state central committeeman), and Steve Orlando. Unsuccessful in overriding the parliamentarian and hijacking the convention, the would-be hijackers were escorted out of the convention by the Dixon police and then proceeded to hold their own meeting at the aforementioned location.
What I find interesting about Doug’s account of this convention is the continuing theme and the unconfirmed culprit who is driving a campaign against Rafael. The implication from the article is that Dan Cronin, DuPage County Board Chairman and DuPage County GOP Chairman, may be the figure lurking behind the uprising at the convention as well as the recent dismissal of Rafael from the DuPage RNHA chapter. It is common knowledge in DuPage County that Cronin has been incensed with Rivadeneira ever since the release of the campaign mailer that Rafael used in his own primary campaign a year ago, identifying Cronin for his support of an RTA tax increase. Subsequent to the general election in which Cronin won his bid for the County Board Chairman and had to relinquish his state senatorial position, Rafael submitted his own name as a candidate to replace Senator Cronin. Cronin, who had the primary vote in that decision process, never gave Rafael the courtesy of an interview or even a response. Cronin did not contact Rafael until he made the phone call to him to let him know that another candidate would replace Cronin.
Looking back at the ‘thorn’ in Cronin’s behind that prompted his scorn for Rivadeneira, all Cronin would have had to do is confront the fact rather than attack. Yes, Cronin did, in fact, vote for a sales tax to bail out the RTA. Could there have been extenuating circumstances that led to the supportive vote? It’s a possibility. If so, most reasonable people will listen to a rational explanation – they may not agree with the vote, but they will move on. If, however, he simply felt the tax was the right thing to do, then he should be prepared to accept the feedback – pro and con. Cronin made the vote and needs to own his decision. Carrying out a personal attack with people who oppose your vote is not a flattering political trait.
The process with which Cronin handled the ultimate decision was obviously his to manage. That said, it is quite apparent that seeking the most qualified candidate was not his number one priority. That is not a slam against his ultimate choice, Ron Sandack, but rather an observation that Cronin’s ‘thin skin’ got in the way of even considering Rafael’s qualifications.
So exactly who was the driving force behind the IRNHA convention uprising as well as the DuPage IRNHA chapter dismissal of a member? Time will tell. But in the meanwhile, it is not surprising that the word around DuPage and much of Illinois is that someone in DuPage has their eyes on the Governor’s mansion. Obviously, their political aspirations are theirs to have. But if those aspirations are going to be built upon degrading their opposition instead of standing on conservative principles, they would do well to declare themselves as a Democrat and save the GOP another Mark Kirk embarrassment. Illinois’ GOP is burgeoning with politicians who prefer to imitate Democrat-lights, allowing power and control to drive their ambitions rather than principle. They need to find a new political home.
