Hello once again from the West Texas Association Of Jingoistic Gun Owning SUV Driving Conspiratorial Obstructionists.

REUNION:

Last week end my wife and I went to Houston, Texas for the 55th Lamar High School Class Reunion. I actually got to visit with several people whom I had not seen since 1955. A couple of them were people with whom I attended school from the first grade through high school. We had a really great time and also got to visit with some other friends as well as family who live in Houston.

On a sad note, in the lobby of the country club where the breakfast and dinner were held there was a huge board with photographs of classmates who had passed away. One man in particular hit me pretty hard. It was a guy who I went through school with from the 7th grade through high school.

His name was Dick Goff. Dick was a really good athlete and played football/basketball and softball in junior high. He went on to play football and was on the 1953 4A State Championship team from Mirabeau B. Lamar High School. He was one of the toughest and nicest people I ever knew. He went on to Texas A & M under Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. I know he played at least 2 years and then as well as I can remember he blew a knee and was not able to play for his full time. He did graduate from Texas A & M and of course at his funeral they played The Aggie War Hymn. And if you have never heard it, you have missed something. If you have heard it, I don’t care which school you support, The Aggie War Hymn will make the hair on your neck stand out.

Dick passed away 2 days prior to the class reunion. He was undergoing treatment at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston and was planning on attending the reunion. He will be missed by everyone who ever knew him.

SUMMIT:

OK. Back to less important matters. Of course we all were subjected to the overbearing arrogant behavior of President Barack Hussein Obama at the Health Care Summit which was a huge waste of time. Of course not to be outdone, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid along with several other Democrat/Socialist mutts revealed their bare backsides also.

This clown show was 6 hours in length. The Republicans had, as I heard reported a little over 100 minutes of talk time. Now for those of you residing in the People’s Republic of San Francisco that would be roughly one hour and forty minutes. So just by using simple math (that is unless the government education system and the teacher’s unions have changed the simple rules of addition and subtraction) that would mean that the Democrats/Socialists would have squandered four hours and twenty minutes.

Of course every time I checked in on this idiotic show the world’s most articulate and intelligent human was generally showing us just exactly what a complete arrogant ass he really is. Now as you may have guessed, I am not a huge John McCain fan but I thought that Obama acted like a complete turd in his responses to McCain. Of course I guess that it would be rather tough for a 100%, blue ribbon, gold medal turd to act any other way.

Then after it was all over we had to be subjected by members of the mainstream media along with the various NBC news agencies telling us all how really balanced this whole idiotic exercise in stupidity was. I can recall one Republican Senator had a copy of the Senate Health Care Bill and was quoting from it when the world’s most articulate and intelligent human interrupted him and accused him of “USING PROPS”. Is that what this piece-o’-crap legislation is, a prop? Ah, but then we were subjected by a whole host of SOB stories from various Democrats/Socialists.

So what I gathered from this entire exercise in ignorance is that these elected mutts don’t give a damn about what the majority of the American citizens want or need. We are way to stupid to know what we like, evidently. Aren’t we fortunate that we have the Obama Freak Show to tell us what to think? And to think, I used to think that the Clinton administration was in the hands of carnival geeks. They look really good in comparison with this bunch of slugs. It just goes to show you that: You don’t have to go to a Circus to see a bunch of CLOWNS.

SURFERS:

OK. I am sure we have all heard enough news regarding the earthquake in Chile, so I will concentrate on the predicted TSUNAMIS which were to be caused by this massive earthquake and the subsequent massive after-shocks.

While in Houston I turned on FOX News and they had a report coming in from Hawaii. They were predicting tsunami waves up to THIRTY YARDS high traveling at speeds possibly up to FIVE HUNDRED MILES PER HOUR. According to the report, the police on the islands had their hands full evacuating people from low lying areas. They did not have time to waste on the 20 or so surfers who were several hundreds off shore “waiting for the big one”.

One had to wonder if all surfers were as stupid as these fools. I have watched low flying jet aircraft flying at that speed and I don’t believe I could have gotten out of their way had they been on the ground. I couldn’t have gotten out of their way had I been in a car which I believe could move at a higher speed than a surfboard. One has to wonder about surfers and I have come to the conclusion that the bunch out there waiting for the big one must have the intellect of a bar of soap.

I don’t know about the rest of you but it is about all I can do to hold back the tears after hearing that DESIREE ROGERS (who had some title like Presidential Social Secretary or White House Social Secretary or some other idiotic term like that) was leaving the Obama staff. I just can’t imagine anyone who can fill those shoes. Well, perhaps a crazed monkey on Dexadrine.

According to our very own (Sub) Standard Times, the month of March is WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH. Wow! The first woman to be honored was former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Ah but this morning our local rag honored MAYA ANGELOU. Now I realize that I am not as talented in the area of poetry as MAYA ANGELOU is but I have read some of her stuff and have heard her interviewed and listened to her read some of her original works and if this woman is a talented poet then I will be crowned as the next King of Ethiopia. I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but please, give me Alfred Lord Tennyson or Rudyard Kipling and spare me Maya Angelou.

Last week I went out to our fair grounds and went to a little known event at live stock show and rodeos. It was the Ag-Mechanic Show. This is a show where various Agriculture Clubs from high schools all over the state show some of their projects. I was absolutely amazed at some of the stuff they had and it was all engineered and assembled by Jr. High and High School students from all over the state. There was one young man and girl who had designed a portable hunting blind which was handicap accessible. In the floor of this blind there was a circle cut in the carpet and when the handicapped person came up the ramp and was sitting in his chair in the middle of the circle, he/she had a control which enabled them to turn the floor in any direction. It was powered by a battery operated motor which was almost completely silent. It was really a beautiful piece of work.

There were any number of other projects which showed just how talented these students were. There was one section which had various models of tractors which had all been restored to original condition. There was one small tractor which was made by Ford and another company. It was a 1927 model tractor with metal wheels and the tractor had originally belonged to one of the student’s great grandfather. Not only was the tractor restored to new condition but the kid also had the original manual and the original paperwork on the tractor. It was really a beautiful piece of work. I would imagine that there were probably 20 or more restored tractors of different sizes and engine types.

Most of the projects had a functional use and those kids were really pleased to tell you about them. I left the arena with a very good impression of students taking Agriculture classes.

If I had to drive every day in either Houston, Texas or in the Freedom Loving Worker’s Province of Austin, Texas, I would give the term Road Rage a whole new meaning. Now Houston is screwed up purely because there are too many people stuffed into one area. Ah, but Austin has gone to the trouble to put up confusing signs which direct you onto a road which suddenly turns into a TOLL ROAD.

Well the Primary Elections are over in Texas and I hope that someone will remind me later in the week to e-mail Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and ask her how it feels to have her ass kicked off and handed to her on a silver platter. As you may have gathered, I am not a huge fan of Kay Bailey Hutchison and I certainly don’t agree with Governor Rick Perry and all of the things which he has supported BUT Senator Hutchison, how shall I put it, crapped in her cereal with me a few years back over the McCain/Kennedy Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill which was nothing more than amnesty for illegal aliens. So while I am not completely happy with Rick Perry, I am completely happy that Kay Bailey Hutchison got roasted. Hope the same thing happens when she runs for the Senate again.

Anyway, this past week has been great but has also been sad. It is always sad to lose a friend and we learned of the wife of one of my oldest friends was involved in a very serious auto accident in Louisiana. She has been added to our prayer list.

A lady who was a friend of my wife’s died today. My wife had spoken with her on the telephone yesterday morning and had attempted to call her all this morning but received no answer. So being concerned we went down to check on her, We could hear her TV going and her dog barking but got no answer. My wife had a key to her home and when we entered and walked back to the bedroom we found her lying face down on the floor. She had to use a walker and it was lying beneath her body. We notified the police and the in turn called out the Coroner. She was to turn 69 this month.

Anyway, I sincerely hope all of you have a great year and nothing but good things come your way.
