The Absurd Report

Anyone who still believes this Administration has our best interest at heart and is open to negotiation on healthcare needs to be protected from themselves. One hundred hospitals reported missing their village idiots last week. The national silver alert led to their discovery in the Rose Garden, drinking kool aid and getting fitted for white coats. Some were duped into being present under the pretext that the President would continue (actually you can’t continue something that never started) the “conversation” on health care. If only these coats had the extra long sleeves.

Some of the docprops were out to show support of “physicians” for the current menu of “reforms.” Higher taxes on low and middle income taxpayers (well there will be fewer and fewer of those), destruction of choice in healthcare, and a bill which dishonestly reports to be budget neutral are the appetizers on the reform menu. The President and his minions refuse to detail massive Medicare cuts, gutting of Medicare Advantage, new taxes on private insurance (which will be shifted to purchasers and ultimately make private insurance unaffordable) and failure to include the cost of the SCHIP (State Childrens Health Insurance Program) program. This doesn’t even begin to touch the fact that all bills under consideration not only allow but mandate abortion coverage. Anyone who denies this is simply not telling the truth. The bills all are supported by Planned Parenthood. The bills clearly allow for accounting mechanisms that bypass the Hyde amendment restricting the ability of government to pay directly for abortion services. These bills all mandate admission of health plans which cover “womens health services” to the national insurance exchange. Also haven’t managed the need these programs will have to ration care. That will come in Medicare cuts and those decisions will be made by folks who feel they are capable of determining the value of classes of lives based on age and disability. These folks should not “suffuse anyone with ease” Hope.

Lastly, non-legal (“conceptual”) language leaves open endless possibilities for restructuring of the Senate bills by the Senate Majority Leader (Harry Reid) as he puts together the HELP and Finance Committee bills in a smoky back room over the next week or two. Baucus has said he can’t post the bill on the internet, it would take two weeks! So much for the President’s promise of legislative transparency and the posting of legislation on the internet at least 72 hours in advance of voting! If these clowns can’t figure out how to post something on the internet why do we want them involved in our healthcare? Fact is they don’t want us to see the bill.

This process certainly is change! All change is not reform, however, and current legislation is a bunker buster bomb precisely targeted to destroy medical care as we know it.

Hope, the best chance for us to head this off is the people. Call Senators first. That is where the fight is. Baucus and Reid will attempt to roll out a bill under the shell of other legislation. This then will be able to bypass the ususal first cut the house gets on tax legislation. The House is in disarray currently but the hope is unity at reconciliation behind a Senate bill. Bill to Obama’s desk by Thanksgiving.

We are burning daylight. Key Senators are not ours, but you can call, email, write or visit anyway. They are Snowe (Me), Collins (Me), Nelson (Neb), Lieberman (CT), Grassley (Iowa), Enzi (Ohio), Bingaman (NM), Baucus (Mont) and Lincoln (Ark) and Landrieu (Louisiana). Sen. McConnell is Minority in the Senate. If this resonates with your pastor would be a blessing to get your congregation burning up the phone lines and email servers.

Senate switchboard is 202-224-3121. Get local state offices if machines full or not answering. Put in Senator and the name and their webiste (email and contacts there) generally come up first on any search. As we said, the President is all in on this. He is determined to win this no matter what it takes. It is now or never and it is up to us to defend the natural rights bestowed on this great nation by God, and supposedly protected by our government.

And treachery is afoot. A duplicitous shell game which breaks every ridiculous promise of transparency pledged by the President is planned.
