The Absurd Report

The Bible tells us that Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus for a bribe of “thirty pieces of silver” by identifying him with a kiss—”the kiss of Judas”—to arresting soldiers of the High Priest Caiaphas, who then turned Jesus over to Pontius Pilate’s soldiers.

Given 2000 years worth of inflation, “thirty pieces of silver” equates to $300 million dollars of bribe money for Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. That is the price a Senator will sell their vote to the devil and undo 233 years of Freedom and Liberty.

I am beginning to wonder if there is anyone left in Washington that puts their country’s welfare ahead of all else. Congress well knows that their own fate hangs in the balance and is tied to the economy but yet they fail to recognize the connection between anemic hiring and the raft of tax hikes, mandates, and fines they have in mind as part of health care package.

A common explanation as to why Judas betrayed Jesus was for his love of money. Does not this explanation speak volumes about our elected representatives in Washington today?

Abraham Lincoln once said…

“A statesman is he who thinks in the future generations, and a politician is he who thinks in the upcoming elections.”

But Bob Edwards put it more profoundly when he said…

“Now I know what a statesman is; he’s a dead politician. We need more statesmen.”

It is now become apparent that the government no longer rules with “the consent of the governed.” The will of the people are answered by “Shut Up!” “Get over it!” “Let’s move on!” These are not answers, they are provocations. Is this not the approach of a totalitarian government?

Has not our government denied “the right of the people…to petition the government for a redress of grievances”? Does government have a right to exile all Americans to debtor prison? Does government have a right to imprison people for not buying an insurance policy?

What we are doing here is spending trillions of dollars we don’t have, raising hundreds of billions dollars in taxes in the worst of economic times, slashing Medicare payments and creating over a hundred new government agencies empowering government bureaucrats to influence health-care treatment all in the name of expanding coverage.

The Constitution is being systematically shredded and they (government) are openly defying the will of the people; apparently they expect the people of this country to sit back and take it.

Judas has been scorned throughout history and his name depicts treachery, deceit and a traitor, history will judge his children in Congress no better. For our Freedom and Liberty has just been sold for “30 pieces of silver.”
