Dear Senators,
Thank you all for showing sanity, caution, and common sense in our Senate. The Pelosi bill passed last weekend is a monstrosity. It is an insult to the American people. It is not really much about healthcare reform at all. But rather it is about getting control of another 17% of the US economy and about exerting control over much of our lives. It has massive tax increases, places further burdens on businesses, and will kill more jobs. Our healthcare system is not broken, America has the very best healthcare in the world. I’m proud of that. We all should be. What needs fixing is how we “pay” for it. Sure, we can make the insurance companies treat people better. Nothing wrong with that. But if this becomes law, it would imperil the good insurance coverage that most of us already have and wish to keep. In passing such legislation, the House Democratic leadership has clearly shown that it wishes to ignore the will of the majority of Americans. Surely the American people deserve better than this. – RJ
