What I Don’t Like About McCain By Jim Mc

In this ad, “humble John” takes credit for “the surge” results. (Video from You Tube here…)
It’s true and admirable, that McCain has been an unyielding supporter of the Iraq mission, as well as an early and constant critic of both Rumsfeld’s mismanagement, and of the related Iraq force manning levels. But the truth today, is that it is the specific strategy and the military leadership of “the surge”, which have proved to be the most successful elements of this successful campaign. Without this particular plan, just throwing more troops over there as the Senator has been calling for, would likely have produced nothing but higher coalition casualties.
He mentions a “different strategy” here in a way which suggests that it’s his strategy. It isn’t. And it is the brilliant and brave implementation of this new strategy including neighborhood engagement, the Anwar focus, and the partnering with tribal chiefs in the Sunni triangle to oust al Qaeda, which has turned the tide for us. “Armchair general” McCain had little or nothing to say about this new plan before, or now.
The actual credit for this “surge” and its success really belongs not to the carping McCain then, but first to Jack Keene and Fred Kagan who wrote the “surge” plan, and then to President Bush, who, despite his earlier mismanagement of this war, still confronted the “withdraw now” Iraq war critics [from both sides of the aisle], with a demand for more troops to carry out the Kagan - Keene plan. But finally the ultimate credit goes to the great Gen. David Petraeus, America’s true, ‘Man of the Year’, who believed in “the surge” strategy, and who has led it with extraordinary courage, skill, and humility. The sanctimonious McCain makes no mention of any of these people. Shame on him.
Several years ago someone called McCain a megalomaniac. I see no reason to debate that diagnosis today.

P.S. As Nigeria’s oil output is attacked by terrorists, the “options” trading con-men bid the price of crude up to $100/bbl, and we prepare for the $4.00/gal milestone; isn’t it comforting to know that Sen. McCain, and his endorsing pal, “Joe-mentum” Lieberman opposed drilling in ANWAR. Hey it’s only about 10 billion barrels of oil, and maybe 35 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Is that enough to allegedly inconvenience a couple of caribou herds. Not in Johnny and Joe’s America it isn’t.
SideBear: I also have major problems with John McCain, although I will give him credit for being a staunch supporter of the war effort in Iraq but beyond that he is nothing but a liberal ‘Hawk.’
A brief look at his record shows….
-
He is in favor of raising taxes and he voted against the Bush Tax Cuts
The McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform Bill is in direct contradiction with the people’s 1st Amendment rights to free political speech.
And I never can forgive him for his stance on Immigration Reform.

When a Republican Senator forms a backroom deal with the likes of a Teddy Kennedy to keep our southern borders open for mass illegal immigration one has to question his wisdom. This piece of legislation that McCain-Kennedy tried to sneak through in the dead of night was an abomination striking at the very essence of American sovereignty.
Additionally, as Jim mentioned above about McCain’s mega-ego, who can ever forget the way, Senator John McCain and his lapdog Senator Lindsay Graham talked DOWN to the American people and described them as racist on immigration.
The Senator seems to have forgotten that he works for me and you, and is We the People who will decide his faith and no amount of ass-kissing and begging from McCain can undo what he has already done.
As I said above, “He is nothing but a liberal ‘Hawk.’ ”
McCain, Iraq, al Qaeda, President Bush, Gen. David Petraeus, terrorists, drilling in ANWAR, Immigration Reform
