The state of the liberal mind is on display on this week’s cover of Time magazine.
The already notorious cover takes the iconic photograph of U.S. Marines planting the American flag on Iwo Jima and substitutes a tree for the flag. Why Time’s editors did this explains much about contemporary liberalism.
The first thing it explains is that liberals, not to mention the left as a whole, stopped fighting evil during the Vietnam War.
As I wrote in my last column, whereas liberals had led the fight against Nazism before and during World War II, and against communism after the war, the liberal will to fight communism, the greatest organized evil of the postwar world, collapsed during the Vietnam War.
The Vietnam War did to American liberals what World War I did to most Europeans — it rendered them anti-war rather than anti-evil.
That is why liberals have gone AWOL in the fight against Islamic totalitarianism. As during the post-Vietnam Cold War, when liberals fought anti-communists much more than they fought communists, they fight anti-Islamists much more than they fight Islamists.
Thus, Democrats routinely dismiss the Bush administration’s talk about the threat of Islamic terror as “scare tactics.”
But — and this is a primary reason for Time’s cover — liberals know that they have largely opted out of the fight against Islamists; their only passion on this matter is abandoning the war against Islamists in Iraq.

Just when we thought James Earl Carter had secured this years “Most Contemptible” prize, along comes Time Magazine’s issue devoted to the rubbish known as global warming. The leftist dilletantes who run the editorial board there somehow thought this would be appropriate to present a cover juxtaposing their “green”, global warming flim-flam, onto the valiant men who raised the Iwo Jima flag on Mt. Suribachi.
Even if there was some validity to this global warming stuff, it would still be shameful to turn the deadly Iwo battle into a poster for their political cause. But discrediting real valor and decency for this hokum is truly a contemptible act. Of course, this is really what liberal scum
do. It’s who they are.
They also have a serious “irony-deficiency” at this odious rag. Otherwise the Ivy League clown show, that runs the place might have noted that Time had issued a dire warning in 1974, explaining that we were entering, “Another Ice Age”. Today there is mounting evidence that they might have been right , back then, as reputable science can now demonstrate that a cooling period has actually been underway since 1998. This is of no matter to Time, and its subscribers like Gore, and George W Bush.
It is a pity that we must go to the Czech Republic in order to find courage and wisdom on the matter of “global warming”. Czech President Vaclav Klaus explains it thusly:

Lt. John Wells, Platoon Leader of the Mt. Suribachi heroes put it this way: “That global warming is the biggest joke I’ve ever known.”
Yes Lieutenant, and the joke is on us, and this joke of a Government which presides over this dangerous chicanery.

They didn’t lose their will to fight the communists, they were taken over by the communists. In a coordinated effort, they have taken over the Democrats, most of the Republicans, the media, the schools (which put out the media and the professors, a self-perpetuating nightmare), and the Central Banks. They are not communists, per se, but ARE convening a World Government, hidden for now, that will soon have us all answering to the UN.
It’s all out there for you to see, but most will choose to remain blind because of their first major success against Joe McCarthy. Now, whenever you want to discuss these people, they can demonize you and your words with nothing more than a look; in fact, it’s worse than that. They get YOU to do it for them. Think about how you feel if anyone starts talking about secret meetings (fact, evidence, the meetings aren’t hidden, only what’s discussed) in direct violation of the Logan Act by members of every administration for over a hundred years, possibly since the inception of this country and the Logan Act.
