The Absurd Report

I must admit that Oprah Winfrey has produced some episodes on her daily TV show that are very revealing, insightful, and entertaining. (That said, I have paused for a few seconds to see if I would be struck by lightning.) My admission is highly cautious and skeptical, however, because it is blatantly obvious that she also has a very left of center agenda of which she has excelled in selling to an overly enthralled and gullible audience for several years. Her public endorsement of Obama came as a surprise to no one, being consistent with the parade of Hollywood losers and leftwing politicos with and for whom she expects real Americans to identify and swoon.

So to no one’s surprise, her new XM Satellite radio program (Oprah & Friends) continues with the same leftist or counter-cultural bias. In that vein, my friend Howie in FL shared with me some information about a one-year course that is underway on her program with the subject title of “A Course in Miracles”. As there are those who regularly attempt to rewrite and/or reinterpret what they consider to be a “living” U.S. Constitution, so too are there New Age “Christians” who subtly work to redefine Christianity and the Bible. Should you be familiar with this “course” or are the least bit curious of what it is about, I have included a couple of links below to counterbalance the Oprah hoopla.

Oprah is very talented as an entertainment innovator and communicator – but just like her compatriots in show business, the mass media, and left-wing politics, she has an agenda that should be viewed with healthy skepticism. We must all judge for ourselves what we choose to believe and who we trust, but never, never underestimate the power of the media. Whether it’s through movies, TV commercials, “news” anchors and commentators, editorialists masking as “journalists”, pop music, “celebrities”, or just plain old politicians, we must use very active listening skills to question and filter all that we are fed. Those who seek an upheaval of our American culture are relatively patient and have many varied and polished tactics to accomplish their attack on our culture and its values. To her credit, Oprah is extraordinarily wealthy - but her reasons for consistently featuring left-“thinking” guests and programming messages along with providing a steady stream of gifts ranging from books to cars to her audiences is highly suspect. Is she just being generous and entertaining or is she attempting to buy your soul?!
