The Case against Voter Registration Drives by William J. Watkins, Jr.

Recent polls show that three times as many Americans of voting age can name two of Snow White’s Seven Dwarfs (77 percent) as can name two U.S. Supreme Court Justices (24 percent). The statistics are only somewhat better when one asks them to name the Three Stooges (73 percent) versus the three branches of the federal government (42 percent).
No one says such ignorance is a good thing, but mass voter registration drives, such as those organized by Rock the Vote and BotherVoting.org, compound the trouble by ensuring that more ill-informed and intellectually lazy citizens will have a say in how the rest of us are governed, laments Independent Institute Adjunct Fellow William J. Watkins in a recent op-ed.
“If Rock the Vote and Bothervoting.org really wanted to contribute to solving the problems facing our country, they would focus less on numbers and more on knowledge,” writes Watkins. “Unfortunately, the registration movement teaches citizens that an uneducated vote is better than no vote at all. Such a lesson is pernicious and could have lasting effects on the electorate.”

You need to move registration to somewhere in the downtown courthouse, or the outlying tax offices, or some other Government building. Make people show an ID AND and birth certificate, and make it where the people registering voters are only doing that, nothing else, and are in the same building as where you’d have to go to verify birth certificates. In short, make sure they are legal citizens before they register. Also, registration for an election closes ONE YEAR before the actual voting day, in order to make sure they have time to process you’re registration. You also have to register in person EVERY YEAR.
As to voting, you should have to show your valid ID, driver’s license preferred, but any legal picture ID should do. You should also have a registration card to make it easier to look you up on the PAPER RECORD the poll worker should have in front of them. Once they find you, they give you a ballot. Once you’re done voting, they process that ballot FOR YOU, making sure it goes into the machine and gets counted with no errors, then they file that ballot in a box, all paper ballots to be kept for verification purposes for two years.
Once you can verify that it’s a legal election, then you can tell me who won.
But this one was stolen, that’s for sure. First, they stole any chance of a conservative representing the Republicans. Then, just because they thought they’d still lose even with their own boy sandbagging everywhere he could, they fixed the vote by hiding the illegal votes they made in hundreds of thousands of illegal registrations, giving their complicit voting officers a leg to stand on as to not verify all registrations.
Nobody votes IN a communist government. The communists (and let’s not kid ourselves anymore, okay) vote themselves into office with the help of the intelligentsia, who are pied pipered into this dream by being told they are so smart to see that communism would be perfect, and the only reason it’s ever failed (the few times it did, in their minds) was because it hasn’t been tried with America’s money.
Until we change it so that EVERY AMERICAN pays the SAME dollar amount in taxes or they don’t get to vote, we will always lose elections to communists. Until we reject socialism ourselves, completely, we will never completely eject socialism. The fight is waged inside each of us only. Go to the mirror and kick some butt, America, or we’re all doomed.
