Quote of the Day… 6/14/08

“The government of the United States is a definite government, confined to specified objects. It is not like the state governments, whose powers are more general. Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government.” —James Madison

Just like in Texas, where they passed an amendment to spend three billion on cancer research. NOT the government’s business, not in the least, not with hundreds or thousands of people already researching that one. Yet, we DON’T have the estimated five hundred million to one billion it would cost to put a fully functional, multi-faceted public transportation system in, one that would economically benefit everyone in the state, a multitude of those outside the state, and would generate revenue, instead of being a constant drain.

And when we find a cure for cancer (already found, from what I’ve seen, but, business being what it is…), will the state of Texas own it? Of course not. I’m betting there’ll be something in there that will sell that little bit of information to some university, or some company to exploit.

Never did I hear about this amendment until it was on the news Sunday about being passed, after being voted on Saturday, in an off-election.

Time to start removing these people from power, Rick Perry first, I say.
