Obama’s Free Ride in Middle East Coming to an End? by Matt Lewis

Barack Obama has yet to commit the kind of gaffe that would reverse the glowing media narrative about him, but his trip abroad has continued to expose some major weaknesses.
First, his stunning admission that — even knowing what he knows now, he would not have supported the surge — continues to confuse and baffle. Here’s the controversial exchange:
-
Moran: “‘[T]he surge of U.S. troops, combined with ordinary Iraqis’ rejection of both al Qaeda and Shiite extremists have transformed the country. Attacks are down more than 80% nationwide. U.S. combat casualties have plummeted, five this month so far, compared with 78 last July, and Baghdad has a pulse again.’ If you had to do it over again, knowing what you know now, would you — would you support the surge?”
-
Obama: “No, because — keep in mind that -”
Moran: “You wouldn’t?”
SideBear by Jim Mc: Here ABC’s Moran gave him an, “out card”. Obama could have easily said: “Terry if you’re asking in retrospect, would I have chosen to do something that would have saved American lives; then the answer is, ‘yes’. But few felt that would be the case when this proposition was being debated.”
Instead he launched into a disingenuous, and incoherent, “dog ate the homework”, peroration proclaiming he was right, even though he’s been proven without doubt; to have been wrong. Deadly wrong. In fact so wrong, that the country he now surveys with haughty arrogance, would have been in flames and bloody chaos, if BO and his friends at “Code Pink” had won “the surge” debate.
The reasons why he declines to be tested in open forums are becoming clear. He’s intellectually flimsy. He’s a strutting wind-up doll, spouting someone’s talking points. Appearances, and style aside he’s just another, leftist gas-bag, without substance or accomplishment.
Finally, MSNBC breathlessly characterized his Ladies Home Journal overseas visitation. including the network anchor, “puppets-on-a-plane” show, as a, “tour of duty”.
Barack Obama would be as likely to show up for an actual, ‘tour of duty”, as his grandmother.
Sorry Grandma. No offense. Make that, “less likely to show up,,,,”.

Clinton Administration to Obama: Iraq Trumps Afghanistan
[…]
Throughout the latter 1990s, President Clinton’s State Department, headed by Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, listed Iraq among the leading sponsors of terrorism. It did so officially in its Patterns of Global Terrorism report, which is the formal, annual assessment on global terrorism mandated by Congress beginning in 1979 with the passing of the Export Administration Act. The final such report by the Clinton administration, in 2000, highlighted the seven leading terrorist governments: Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Cuba, North Korea, and Sudan. Afghanistan was not even on the list. These were the same seven nations identified in previous years, with Iraq and Iran singled out as the worst offenders (1999 index, 1999 overview). In fact, the 2000 report devoted more words (and terrorist crimes) to Iraq than any other nation.
