“Murphy’s Law” by Jim Murphy

Greetings from the Non-Global Jingoistic Bible and Gun Clinging Society of West Texas.
I would like to begin by mentioning three word that refer to a government program(s) which I have pretty well been sick of hearing for several weeks. That would be “Economic Stimulus Package”. After listening to the descriptions of these various government attempts to gain control over our economy, one must wonder just exactly who will be stimulated by all of this hoopla. My wife and I have already been affected by the extreme drop in the stock market. We have a couple of retirement funds which have been drawing between 6% and 8% interest up through April 30, 2007. Since that time, the principal has remained constant but for one entire year we have not drawn any interest on the accounts which is tied in with the S & P. We also have one smaller account which has actually lost money over the past 7 or 8 months. Granted we have not been hurt nearly as much as some but I am not getting the feeling that our economic status will be stimulated much by these new programs. It seems almost every single day some new group is putting the touch on our government for some pretty significant funds to bail them out of a financial crisis which they got into on their own.
Any way you slice it, the United Auto Workers’ Union is guilty of some really horrible management. I listened to one ex-auto worker speak the other day and he explained that quite a significant amount of the $25 - $50 billion dollar bail out of the “Big Three” U.S. automobile manufacturers would go to making up the salaries of auto workers who were either let go or took early retirement. This man said that those workers who lost their jobs due to cut-backs would be eligible for federal unemployment and that the money received from the government would go to make up those worker’s salaries up to 95% of their pay for the time they were off work.
They went on to say that the average hourly wage for one of the union auto workers was around $78 per hour. They also pointed out that the salaries of the NON-UNION foreign automobile plants located in the U.S. was an average of $48 per hour. Then they said that the average salary of the rest of the working class Americans averaged $28 per hour. And since they are using tax dollars for these idiotic bail outs it meant that $28 per hour employees were bailing out $78 per hour employees. Doesn’t seem quite fair, does it?
So with all this being said, I must tell you that I do not feel very “Stimulated” by these government bail outs. They keep telling us that we cannot afford to have one million auto workers out of a job. I also must say that I have no desire to see anyone out of a job who really wants to work. But you and I did not create this problem in the automobile industry. Nor did we create the home mortgage crisis. So the ones who helped to create these problems should be the ones to pay the heaviest penalties I would think. How about doing a really thorough investigation into all of this mess and seeing some criminal charges filed on those actually responsible either through their direct actions OR their neglect. And at this particular stage this includes Democrats and Republicans alike. But then it could be like Dennis Miller said, Barney Frank might not mind going to the penitentiary, particularly of his cell mate were Isadore Fist or Big Bubba.
HEROES:
On Friday, November 21, 2008, my wife and I went down town here in San Angelo in order to attend a parade. It was the Hunt For Heroes parade. Each year, area ranchers provide access to their ranches for somewhere around 35 - 40 wounded military personnel from all branches. They begin the activities in Midland, Texas (which is about 100 miles North of San Angelo). There each wounded veteran is given a new Ruger rifle and scope. The rifles are engraved with each veteran’s name. They are also given a new pair of hunting boots, a hunting knife and a back pack. Then while their spouses or their girlfriends are treated to a shopping spree in Midland, the veterans are driven to San Angelo where they participate in a small parade. Each wounded Hero is driven in a golf cart through the parade route. Of course, all branches of our military are represented along with one of our local school bands. You would see heroes who were missing limbs, some were missing fingers and some were burn victims. You could also tell how happy they all were to be participating in this event. I can assure you all that I will never miss another parade honoring these heroes. Of course there are guides who remain with them while they hunt and also fish on some of the ranches.
PACKAGES:
While I grow weary of hearing about “Economic Stimulus Packages”, I want to thank you for your many responses regarding sending packages to our military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan. I can guarantee you that those packages are really appreciated by our troops. I have 3 boxes waiting to be addressed and they will go into the mail on Friday. I don’t remember whether or not I told you but you can use the boxes provided by the post office for Priority Mail. It is a set price depending upon the size of the box. The weight does not matter. I normally use the larger box as it costs only about $10 postage. And one of them is pretty heavy and I can guarantee that a plain box of this size and weight would cost close to $40 to ship. I had rather use that money saved on items for our heroes. Anyway, thank you all.
KEYNES AT HARVARD - 1960 (SOCIALISM):
**There are three main trends of socialist thought in the Western world: Communism (socialist brand), Social democratic neo-Marxism; and Keynesian theories which are actually an extension of the Fabian movement. Curiously, Keynesism proved to be adaptable to the FASCIST as well as the SOCIALIST world.
In the 1920’s revolutionary coteries formed around leftist leaders. One was Felix Frankfurter. Ex-President Theodore Roosevelt wrote of Felix Frankfurter that:
-
“You have taken, and are taking on behalf of the Administration and attitude which seems to me to be fundamentally that of Trotsky and the other Bolshevik leaders in Russia; an attitude which may be fraught with mischief to this country…….. Here again you are engaged in excusing men precisely like the Bolshevik in Russia, who are murderers and encouragers of murder, who are traitors to their allies, to democracy, and to civilization, as well as to the United States.”
During this period Frankfurter was a director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and also served as national committee member of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
The folklore among conservatives which pictures the socialist as “harmless” is something that left-wingers have implanted through many years of constant repetition. The socialist approach may be “soft” and “harmless” in appearance but the inevitable consequences of socialist activity are both tragic and catastrophic to society.**
Also keep in mind that recently Barny Frank in one of his speeches told the audience that what this country really needed was a good dose of Keynesism. Yeah, good thinking Barny.
How long do you imagine it will be before President Barack Hussein Obama realizes that Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and other far left loons in the Senate and House are actually the ones in charge of his administration?
I imagine he will realize it sooner than the idiots in Minnesota who voted for Al Franken.
GOVERNMENT CONTROL:
Also one must wonder how long it will take many of our voters that they are handing over the control of practically everything to the Federal Government? Thanks to our career politicians in Washington,D.C. we now have the Federal Government involved in almost every aspect of our lives.
It never ceases to amaze me how billions of our tax dollars are being turned over to industries and companies who have shown an uncanny inability to operate in a fiscally responsible manner. If the automobile industry is being mis-managed, how is giving them $50 billion dollars going to suddenly fix the problem. This bail out money will still be managed by the slugs who screwed it up to begin with.
Also this past week, I imagine most of you have received e-mails or articles telling us that one of the next moves against our Second Amendment rights will involve the firearms ammunition industry. And this also includes ammunition components, so the re-loaders are not safe either. I have been telling people for years that these Congressional Bozos, once they realized they could not arbitrarily seize our firearms that they would go after the ammunition manufacturers and over regulate it until the cost of all ammunition would be prohibitive. If you don’t believe me, go to a neighborhood firearms dealer or better still go by a gun show and see what is going on there. The crowds are unbelievable. The people are trying to stock up before the Congressional Mutts are able to pass legislation which will make it impossible to obtain ammunition or better still in their view to completely kill that industry.

QUOTES:
“The Budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, Public Debt should be reduced, the Arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the Assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.” …CICERO - 55 BC
“When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.”…THOMAS JEFFERSON
“The Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give it to those who would not.”…THOMAS JEFFERSON
During this Holiday Season, if you should suddenly awaken with an uncontrollable urge to choke the crap out of someone, might I suggest Harry Reid? Or if you are of the female persuasion give some serious thought to Nancy Pelosi.
Seriously, I want to wish each of you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving. I am just wondering how long it will be politically correct to say “Thanksgiving”. I am sure the ACLU or some equally offensive group is working up a really solid protest to challenge this holiday.
Also I would like to recognize and honor the small community of Water Valley, Texas. Some friends and I attended a Six Man football playoff game there last Friday night and prior to the game they not only played our National Anthem, they also had a pre-game prayer. I am sure that somewhere the “Prayer Police” are working up an ACLU complaint against them. But I was proud they did what was RIGHT.
I am also very sorry that in the televising of tomorrow night’s Texas vs, Texas A & M football game that the entire country will not be privileged to see the Texas A & M Fighting Texas Aggie Marching Band. It is quite simply the best marching band on the planet. No exceptions. Texas University has a superb marching band but the Aggie marching band is in a class by itself.
