The Absurd Report

Hello once again from the West Texas Headquarters for The Society Of Jingoistic Gun Clingers.

All right, this week we have the “Grown Ups” Convention. I have watched a bit of this convention and noticed quite a difference in the Republican convention and the “Whiner’s Convention” to which we were subjected last week.

First of all, I would like a show of hands of everyone who bought into the sincerity of Bill Clinton and Joe Biden in their speeches. And after the Biden speech, how many of you really went for the story that Biden was “Surprised” at the impromptu visit of the world’s most intelligent and articulate human?

Governor Sarah Palin is due to speak this evening. Of the people who were on the short list of John McCain’s VP picks, I believe that she was absolutely best pick. Why do I feel this way? Simple. I have never seen any pick by any candidate in the past which has absolutely put the liberals/socialists AND probably most important, THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA on ‘TILT’. Anyone who can piss off this bunch of mutts is fine in my estimation. I believe it caught them by complete surprise and as we all know, the media and the liberals/socialists cannot stand surprises.

Actually, I had looked up Governor Palin a number of months ago when I heard her mentioned, on the Laura Ingraham show I believe. And it had nothing to do with her even being considered as a possible VP candidate. The actual point of the program was of a young female governor who had taken on the establishment in Alaska and put a bunch of their typical politicians on their backsides. This included Democrats and Republicans alike. I looked her up and found out quite a bit about her and also received information about her from many of you who had evidently known about her for quite some time. So I guess I was just about as surprised as the media mutts and the democrats/socialists, with the main difference being that I thought it might actually be a good choice. Then when I saw how crazy it made the socialists and the media mutts, I formed the opinion that it is an excellent choice.

A couple of days back I was watching FOX News and Shepard Smith opened up with a statement that he was going to reveal the latest “Scandals” involving Governor Sarah Palin. So I listened and he first mentioned the fact that Sarah Palin’s daughter was 5 months pregnant. Of course this news had already been broken and while I am sure that Sarah Palin and her husband would be happier if this had not occurred, but once they knew it had and that their daughter and the father of the child are going to get married, I am not completely sure that this qualifies as a “Scandal”. But I guess it did in Shep’s book. Then he broke the killer news that something like 22 years ago, Sarah Palin’s husband had been arrested for DUI and had pled guilty and paid a fine. Now I don’t know about the rest of you but I can’t even count the number of people that I know who have at some point in time in their lives have had a DUI arrest. Some of them pled guilty; some of them were found guilty at trial; and some of them were acquitted.

The thing is, I do not believe their arrest to be a “Scandal”, but then again, I am not nearly as smart as Shep. But I do know that I never treated them a bit different than prior to their problem and I still consider many of them good friends. Then I read this morning where Joseph Biden’s daughter had been arrested in some confrontation with the police in 2002, I believe. Also does the name ‘Monica Lewinsky’ ring a bell? Ah, but according to the liberals/socialists, that was a private matter. Give me a break.

The point being that the personal behavior of Sarah Palin’s child has absolutely nothing to do with how qualified Governor Palin is to be the Vice President of the United States. I’m not even going to go into the fact that she has actually more executive experience than her running mate and both of the democrat/socialist candidates. But I must say that I have never seen hateful behavior directed at anyone like it is being directed at Sarah Palin by the mainstream media and a number of left wing special interest groups.

I watched Fred Thompson’s speech last night and thought that up to this point, this was the best political speech given by anyone in either party. Fred did a great job. Then this morning, Fred was a guest on the Laura Ingraham Show and he was plenty fine. He gives straight answers to questions and doesn’t have to bother to qualify his statements. During the Laura Ingraham Show a point was brought out that democrats/liberals/socialists actually believe that everyone is born at a particular social level and must remain there for life.

This got me to thinking of how many people I have known in my lifetime who have been born into some fairly plain circumstances and through hard work and intelligent choices have become very successful. Many of these people remember how tough it was on their way up. Conversely, I have known many people who were born into wealth and through poor choices and laziness have ended up with NOTHING. But I guess the difference in the way that conservatives and liberals view life is that most conservatives I know realize that most of our successes or failures depend quite a bit on our choices and actions. Whereas the liberals/socialists view themselves as victims if something goes wrong in their life and display arrogance and elitism when things are going their way. In all cases, however, the liberals/socialists believe that government needs to be involved in every aspect of our lives. Conservatives know that the less government intrusion we have in our lives, the smoother things seem to work.

OK. I just imagine that most of you out there failed to realize that this past week, Michael Jackson turned 50 years old. And you are probably the same ones who did not send me a Kwanzaa gift last year. And to top it off, I’ll just bet that Sean “Diddy” Combs, formerly known as “Puff Daddy” and later on “P. Diddy”, has taken a giant step in combating rising fuel costs. Yep. He is now flying first class instead of taking a private jet. Hey! If “Diddy” can make this huge sacrifice, don’t you think that we could pitch in and do our part?

Another little piece of tragic news, Jennifer Anniston’s boyfriend broke up with her via text message. Doesn’t this show a bit of a lack of social skills? In a few years, no one will be able to communicate with another person unless it is by text messages.

A quick word about “Global Warming”. Since there have been several “Global Warming” seminars which have had to be cancelled due to severe cold weather, we are now calling it “Climate Change”. I was listening to a Paul Harvey broadcast earlier this week and heard a report that a scientific study had been conducted and that the hottest water on the planet is located at the bottom of the Atlantic Trench and the temperature of the water is 900 degrees Fahrenheit. (Now for those of you who live in the People’s Republic of San Francisco, water boils at approximately 212 degrees Fahrenheit so the 900 degrees would be MORE/HIGHER.) With this temperature and location in mind, one would conclude that this extremely hot water temperature is not caused by greenhouse gasses. Of course that is just a guess on my part. I’m sure Al Gore would have a perfectly valid explanation for this phenomenon.

Last Saturday I was watching my first college football game of the season. It was Oklahoma State vs. Washington State. It was just before half time and Oklahoma State was in the lead with the ball on the Washington State 4 yard line. Here is the scene:

Less than 20 seconds left until half time

I can’t remember the announcer’s name but he said that it looked like Oklahoma State was going to go for the touchdown and even if they failed, Washington State would have to travel the length of the field in order to score. I made the statement that Oklahoma State would wait until there were about 2 or 3 seconds left then they would call a time out and kick a field goal. With 3 seconds left, Oklahoma State called a time out and sent in the field goal unit and kicked the field goal and time ran out. Then it dawned on me that some of these announcers might be very talented in many areas but that many of them didn’t know crap about football. It seems to me like the networks for college and pro games alike are more interested in being diverse and politically correct than they are in actually giving an accurate account of the game. Also during this particular game viewers were subjected to an on the field interview with T.Boone Pickens who did not discuss football but rather the upside of wind farms. Oh, did I fail to mention that T. Boone has lots of bucks invested in these wind farms? Just keep these things in mind when you hear T.Boone Pickens expressing his energy plans for our country.

Also while it is on my mind, I have really come to like and appreciate actor John Voight. He has turned out to be one of the very few actors who doesn’t mind expressing conservative views. Mr. Voight will forever be endeared to me as he backed Alan Colmes down last evening when Colmes made the mistake of saying something about attacking Barack Obama’s religion. John Voight got real serious looking and gave ol’ Alan a hard look and asked “Are you saying that I am attacking his religion?” Well ol’ Alan Colmes showed just what a wimp he was and quickly made it abundantly clear that he wasn’t accusing Mr. Voight of this. Although I believe he was. It just goes to show that many of these news mutts are cowards and when you stand up to them they melt like a block of ice. Good for John Voight.

When will all conservatives realize that trying to play well with liberals/socialists is a loosing proposition.

Remember that this is the most important Presidential election in any of our lives. We cannot afford to turn our wonderful country over to the far left socialist leaning politicians. Particularly with both houses of congress in their clutches. Try to get everyone you know to get out and vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin. The alternative is too horrible to imagine.

So until next week I guess I will continue to be as critical as possible of the liberals/socialists in a global and diverse way of course.
