“Murphy’s Law” By Jim Murphy

Greetings from the West Texas Headquarters for Gun Clingin’ SUV Drivin’ Vast Right Wing Conspirators. I know I am a day early this week but tomorrow we will be loading up my four wheel drive extended cab pickup truck which is basically the same size is a Suburban but just two less doors. I probably should feel guilty about driving this vehicle but no matter what Barack Hussein Obama or Bill O’Reilly say, I do not.
First if all I would like to say that last Saturday, the conservatives in this country lost a really good man with the passing of Tony Snow. I have been listening to and watching Tony Snow for a number of years and found him to be almost in a class all by himself insofar as television/radio news personalities went. Then the more I watched and listened to this man, I realized that he was an honest and good conservative person. I have nothing but respect for him and the job he did as the Presidential Press Secretary. I will have to agree with Vice President Cheney in thinking that Tony Snow was the BEST Press Secretary that I can remember. I particularly enjoyed watching his news conferences and thought he did a masterful job in setting many of the White House news corps straight, without ever being nasty. He always did it with a nice smile on his face and in a nice even tone. He showed remarkable restraint in dealing with many of these people, particularly Helen Thomas, who I find to be particularly offensive. I will not forget the film of Tony’s last day as he was leaving the White House and the entire White House staff stood outside to wish him well and give him a well deserved ovation. We will miss Tony Snow.
Also last Friday we lost Dr. Michael DeBakey. Now many of you might not readily recognize Dr. DeBakey’s name. But being raised in Houston, Texas, I could not help but remember this great man. I can guarantee that every one of us knows several people who are alive today due to the research and procedures developed by this gentleman. Now while Tony Snow passed away at the really young age of 53, Dr. DeBakey was 99 when he left us. And what is even more amazing, this man went to the hospital every day to advise and assist in open heart surgery. Of course he was one of the pioneers in open heart surgery and additionally developed artificial valves and many procedures used world wide. Again, a great man who will be missed by us all.
Why is it that our Congress spends more time fabricating distractions than doing something productive to increase our fuel supplies? Every time someone brings up additional drilling off shore or drilling in ANWR or reclaiming crude oil from the large supplies located in the shale of Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana our elected officials give us the same tired answer; “If we did that it would be 10 years before we could begin to realize any benefit from it.” OK. But they have been saying that for over 10 years. We could be benefiting from it right now had they not sat on their dead asses during the Clinton Administration. And now we stand the chance of having not only a Congress who knows NOTHING about the oil business but also a President who doesn’t know crude oil from owl crap.
A quick word about the “Virtual Fence”. I believe it would work really well if we were trying to capture “Virtual Aliens” or “Virtual Drug Smugglers”. Every time I see or hear someone use the term “Virtual” in connection with anything, I think back to 1996 when my old friend and partner Peary Perry wrote one of his articles. He wrote this article right after he attended my retirement party in Hobbs, New Mexico. Now keep in mind, this man flew from Austin,Texas to Midland,Texas; rented a car and drove an additional 100 miles to Hobbs, New Mexico. Then after the retirement bash drove back to Midland and then flew home to Austin.
His article started off with the definition of “Virtual”: being such in force or effect, though not actually or expressly such. Then Peary said that what this apparently meant was: something almost real, or close to it. His article went on to describe my retirement party and then after he left and was on his way back to the airport, he began thinking about the word virtual and how it applied to different things including friendships. He went on to say that real friends are not virtual friends. These friends are aren’t “almost” friends. These friends are as real a friend as you can get. They are the kind of people you can call in the middle of the night with some problem, and, instead of getting mad because you woke them, they’d want to know what they could do to help. These are the kinds of friends you can go for months without seeing and then, when you do,it’s like you were just there yesterday. You can sit down and pick up conversations where you left off the last time you were together. He continued to write about friendships and their importance and ended up talking about making new friends. He ended up his article with this sentence: “Just think, if you get started now, in 35 years or so, you can sit next to your friend that is retiring and you can be proud.. like I was.”
I have a copy of that article close at hand and read it pretty often. And I don’t have much use for things that are “Virtual”. Like my friendship with Peary and many others, I like things that are real and as far as I’m concerned, Congress can take their “Virtual” ideas and put ‘em where the sun don’t shine. ( Now for those of you who reside in the People’s Republics of San Francisco, Boston, or Austin, call someone in either West Texas or Oklahoma or Florida and have them explain that last sentence to you.)
OK. Here’s a little something. Dennis Kucinich is still attempting to introduce evidence in order to bring impeachment proceedings against President Bush. I think I might have finally figured out what makes Congressman Dennis Kucinich tick. You see, Congressman Kucinich is actually an alien being. Somehow while in a time warp, he was beamed down to our planet’s surface and through methods only known to him and the mother ship, he learned our customs and finally got elected to a national position. Evidently something is seriously wrong with the mother ship’s transporter as they have not been able to beam Congressman Kucinich back up. Then again, maybe they don’t want him back. Perhaps the Planet Dweeb feels like they are better off without him and at this particular point in time, I could not argue that fact with them. All I can tell you for sure is that my phaser is set on stun at all times.
All right, I know that most of you are aware that RAPPER “Nate-Dogg” is in big trouble with some felony charges being brought against him. Who is “Nate-Dogg” you ask? Where have you all been? This RAP star has made appearances with “Snoop-Dogg”, “Warren-G”; “50 Cent” and “Eminem”. Then you almost have to ask yourself, why was not Hobbs, New Mexico’s own “Freddie ‘Big Baby’ Heckard” not included in some of those appearances? Oh well, maybe later.
The past couple of days, most of us have been subjected to seeing Barack Hussein Obama and John McCain speak before “La Raza” and the NAACP. I listened to some liberal hack on one of the radio programs make the statement “that ‘La Raza’, loosely translated, means ‘The People’.” Now I don’t know to which language this idiot was referring, but “La Raza” in Spanish means “The Race”. Loosely translated my backside. The liberals/socialists simply cannot be truthful on anything which might accidentally show that their theme is actually racist in nature. Now the second question I have is this, why does John McCain feel duty bound to speak before the NAACP, knowing full well that Barack Hussein Obama already has well over 90% of the black vote? It seems to me that both Barack Hussein Obama and John McCain are pandering to minority special interest groups.
Michelle Malkin wrote a good article revealing a few facts about “The Race”. She points out that “La Raza” supports these following things:
-
Driver’s licenses for illegal aliens.
In-state tuition discounts for illegal alien students.
Opposition to a secure border fence.
Opposition to cooperative immigration enforcement efforts between local, state, and federal agencies.
Opposition to Oklahoma’s tough enforcement first laws which cut off welfare to illegal aliens.
Opposes English as the accepted national language in the U.S.
Sponsors militant ethnic nationalist charter schools subsidized by our tax dollars.
Supports PC shakedown at taxpayer expense(Just like JESSE JACKSON & AL SHARPTON)
And these are just a few of the things mentioned in Michelle Malkin’s article.
And please remember what the definition of a PANDERER is: A procurer; a pimp; One who helps others to satisfy their vices.
Unfortunately PANDERING is the rule rather than the exception in today’s political world.
Talk about things being totally out of balance in our world, I heard where the handwritten lyrics of John Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance” sold at an auction this week for over $800,000.00. Whoever paid that has some serious problems.
Oh No! Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson and his sister have been implicated in a federal money laundering case. OK. First he put about $100,000.00 in his deep freeze now he is laundering money. What will he think of next? Perhaps he could bake some money or perhaps deep fry a few funds. What a complete jerk.
A quick word about the statements made earlier by retired Senator Phil Graham. First of all, I did not always agree with Senator Graham. Second, he should have known better than to make some snide remarks knowing full well that the liberal media would make something out of it. Third, he might be right. A “Recession” requires two consecutive quarters of negative growth which has not happened, yet. Insofar as us becoming a “Nation of whiners”, I am finding it really hard to disagree with him on this. The perpetual victimology of the vast majority of the liberals/socialists in this country have created at least part of our society as complete, card carrying, dyed in the wool WHINERS. So while Phil Grahams’s comments might not have been real smart, they were fairly accurate at least in describing the liberals.
Oh, and before I forget, let me address the whispered statements made by Jesse Jackson regarding making a gelding out of Barack Hussein Obama. We have all heard, I am sure, that perhaps this statement was staged in order to really swing some white conservatives over to the Obama camp simply because they hate Jesse Jackson. Well perhaps that is true but in my particular case it fell a bit short simply due to the fact that I find Barack Hussein Obama as loathsome as I do Jesse Jackson. Now if Barack Hussein Obama were to grab ol’ Jesse up and choke him till his eyes bugged out even more, then I might change my opinion of him. I’d have to think on that for a bit……………………….. OK. I’ve thought about it an I find them both to be equally unacceptable.
How about this? I heard a report that in Great Britain, before the police can enter a Muslim house with a drug dog, the police must first put rubber booties on the dog’s feet. I guess it won’t be long before Detroit or some other politically correct American city will take up this ignorant idea. I guess it also means that sending a Muslim a cartoon DVD of Goofy or Pluto would be completely out of the question.
Oh, I almost forgot. How about the Green Party’s Presidential candidate? Yep Cynthia McKinney. You remember Cynthia don’t you. Remember the Georgia Congresswoman who got into a shoving match with one of the Capitol Police? Well ol’ Cynthia beat out Ralph Nader as the Green Party candidate in November’s election.

TRIVIA:
Now I would expect a few of you to know this one. Who was James Vernon “Pinky” Wilson and what did he write?
Now if you are a Texas Aggie and didn’t get this one, you should be drummed out of the corps.
James Vernon “Pinky” Wilson was a student at Texas A & M and of course was a member of the corps. When World War I broke out, “Pinky” and many of his buddies joined the Marines and went to war. In 1918, he wrote the famous War Hymn. At the end of the war he returned to Texas A & M to finish his degree and graduated in the class of 1920. The song was introduced to the A & M Fighting Texas Aggie Band in 1919 and has been used ever since as the school’s War Hymn (Fight Song). Now for those of you who have never been privileged to see the Texas A & M Marching Band perform live, you have missed the absolute BEST Military Marching Band on the planet. I have seen the U.S. Marine Corps Band, and the U.S. Army Band live and of course the band from the U.S. Naval Academy on television. The Texas Aggie Marching Band is the best I have ever seen and at every football game prior to the game and at half time and generally at the end of the game they play the Aggie War Hymn. While lots of other college bands have begun to play a salute to the Rolling Stones or some idiotic Broadway Show tunes or some hip-hop crap, the Aggie Band plays military marches. If you ever get a chance to see them live, it is worth the trip.
Well I won’t see you all for a couple of weeks. We are loading up tomorrow and taking off early Thursday morning for Lake City, Colorado to see our daughter and her entire family. All of our grand kids and great grand kids will be there and we are looking forward to seeing them all.
I will not have access to a computer but you can rest assured I will be keeping my eyes and ears open and will continue to be as jingoistic and war mongering and gun clinging as if I were here in West Texas.
See ya in a couple of weeks.
