The fifty seven states comment was actually easily understancable. Fifty seven because you're thinking of fifty states, then say something less, except you say fifty seven, instead of forty seven. One left to go would be forty eight, and he says "we weren't allowed to go to Alaska and Hawaii", which would bring the count to fifty. He didn't confuse those two states as one, he meant one more to go, not three, since we can't go to the last two, Alaska and Hawaii.

I'm hardly a supporter of Obama, I think he's the most dangerous thing that could happen to America, and I'm not sure his danger is lessened by not being elected. He represents a shift to socialism, one we can't easily recover from. But, let's not shoot ourselves in the foot by ridiculing that which is easily understandable in ourselves and our own candidates. And, you don't have to be on drugs to be tired, to make those kind of mistakes, you just have to work eighteen hour days and constantly speak, and time, nature, and statistics will ensure the gaffes roll forward with regularity, no matter who you are.
