He forgot to take the Gloves Off

I guess you could say McCain did a creditable job in the debate last night but that was not what was needed. He needed to put some distance between himself and Barack Obama and on that he count he missed the boat.

With the vast majority of public opinion going against the massive government bailout of Wall Street he should have tapped into the public’s anger and took the other side of the argument in this debate – that the Bush/Paulson/Obama plan was a monumental mistake that he shouldn’t have supported it.

I guess McCain missed the fact that the stock market has tanked every day since the bailout plan was approved and the enormity of concerns facing the American Public and instead he offered a plan for the government to buy mortgages. This is simply a different version of the Paulson plan.

McCain is an ideological campaign war with Obama’s extreme leftism and yet he stayed away from the more controversial aspects of Obama’s past, not a peep about Bill Ayers, Rev Wright, Rezko and the whole Marxist’s agenda. Instead of distinguishing himself from Obama he let him come-off as you’re every day left of center liberal.

McCain did bring up Obama’s and the Democrat’s role in the Fannie/Freddie crisis, but he didn’t come close to touching the true cause of the predicament, and Obama’s potential role in it. He should have flashed some anger and said, “As President I promise that I will get to the bottom of what caused this crisis and those who where responsible will be held accountable.”

He also missed the boat by not pinning Obama to the very unpopular Democratic Congress (See poll below…59% Would Vote to Replace Entire Congress) and he failed to take a shot at Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and Harry Reid in this discussion, the Party that inflamed this entire crisis. McCain seems to only want to be provocative when chastising Republicans and he can’t escape his “Reach across the Aisle” syndrome.

There’s still four weeks left in the presidential race, so the outcome of the election is still somewhat in doubt. But unless John McCain can come up with some ‘difference maker’ on his part, he’s heading for defeat.

SideBear: And this I say to the Republican Party and their elite centrists…

This is the candidate you wanted and shoved down our throat because the thought of a true Conservative was not acceptable to you in a country where 60% of the people live and believe in a conservative lifestyle.

Give me a reason why I should support you in the future?
