Cho Sueng Hui and the Islamic Connection

Written across the arm of the mass murder at Virginia Tech, Cho Sueng Hui was the words in red “Ismail Ax”. Ismail is the Arabic preference to the biblical Ishmael the son of Abraham, the father of the Jews, the Muslims and the Christians.
Abraham migrated from present day Iraq, the son of a wealthy idol manufacturer. He came to believe that there was only one true God and, according to tradition, took up his ax and destroyed his father’s idols.
Ishmael was the illegitimate son of Abraham who was cast out into the desert with his mother and the Lord promised him that he would be the father of a great religion.
The Jews are the descendants of Isaac, the legitimate son of Abraham and the Arabs are the descendants of Ishmael.
Whether Cho Sueng Hui was a Muslim remains to be seen but the writing on his arm is definitely a statement by him in support of Islam. The “Ax” represents Abraham’s Ax in the bible.

Backlash Leads to Pullback on Cho Video
With a backlash developing against the media for airing sickening pictures from Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung-Hui, Fox News Channel said Thursday it would stop and other networks said they would severely limit their use.
NBC News was the recipient Wednesday of Cho’s package of rambling, hate-filled video and written messages, with several pictures of him posing with a gun. Contents began airing on “Nightly News,” and its rivals quickly used them, too.
Family members of victims canceled plans to appear on NBC’s “Today” show Thursday because they “were very upset” with the network for showing the pictures, “Today” host Meredith Vieira said.
Virginia State Police Col. Steve Flaherty—who praised NBC Wednesday for coming to authorities first with the package—said Thursday he was disappointed with what the network showed.

Video Montage Of NBC Teasers Promoting Cho Video
I’ve heard just about heard everything now. TVNewser is reporting that NBC is taking a proactive position to blunt the outrage over their decision to promote the Cho video and “media manifesto” for ratings. Get this:
-
NBC has instituted a policy about the usage of the gunman video on NBC News. “We will limit the use of the video to 10 percent of our airtime — translating to no more than 6 minutes per hour on MSNBC,” a spokesperson says…
What’s the problem with this? For one this means that NBC will actually need to promote the video and “manifesto” more often on more shows since they are going to release them in smaller six minute chunks. This is no different than what they were doing in the first place.

The Death of Decency
There are accounts in the big media today about NBC’s “difficult” decision to run the video clips and show the photos of the Virginia Tech mass murderer.
This is a joke. It’s one thing for NBC to run the clips or show the photos once or twice, but it has used all of its news outlets to run them and show them over and over and over again. We’re being saturated with this sick stuff. How is that newsworthy? This is utterly irresponsible behavior by a ratings driven mentality cloaked in journalistic professionalism. This has moved well beyond informing the public, and has become exploitation of a tragedy.
NBC is the same enterprise that just fired Don Imus for debasing the culture, after paying him millions for years and showcasing it reporters on his show. Joe Welsh’s admonition to Joe McCarthy is appropriately applied here. Apart from the families that have to see and hear this garbage non-stop, is there no concern at all for encouraging copy-cat behavior? I understand the killer made positive references to the Columbine killers. What next? Will Hollywood come knocking? A made-for-TV movie?
It’s one thing to inform the public about the material the killer sent to NBC. But plastering it all over television, and treating this like a non-stop telethon, goes well beyond the acceptable. However difficult the decision may have been, NBC made the wrong choice. And so are most of the rest of the media. This is crass exploitation, period.

Day by Day has it right today about the difference between east and west. The female lib character says “East and West. It’s all in how we see heaven.”
Then, there’s a picture of a mosque and a stellar observatory.
The obvious implications are that for their look into the heavens, the Islamics turn inside themselves, into their holy book, for understanding.
Meanwhile, the rest of the enlightened world looks through telescopes, trying to find the truth for ourselves.
Perfect analogy.
