Acting Responsibly

When it comes to thinking and acting responsibly (if not flat out patriotically), it is so ironic that the last place we can turn is to the federal government. Thanks to a handful of RINO’s (Republicans in name only – translated: those who were at one time pointed in the RIGHT direction, but were subsequently consumed by an unfettered desire to acquire power by acquiescing to liberals) and the vast majority of Democrats, we as a country are currently holding our own cherished sons and daughters hostage is a war zone.
The mantra of the Pelosi- and Reid-led imbeciles is that we’re doing what the electorate demanded – and guess what – their mindless brethren in the news media parade this banner as if it were fact! A more correct assessment of what the electorate stated was that they were not satisfied with the perceived success and pace of the war. This country’s citizens may have an expectation of wars that are completed in less than a month, but in no way have they ever relinquished their desire for this country to do what is absolutely necessary to uphold our freedoms and security, to hold their collective heads high as a country united, and do everything humanly possible to support our troops. There is absolutely no way that the responsible majority of citizens would ever be willing to put our troops intentionally in harms way by denying them the funding required to do their job – particularly for the sake of this country’s irresponsible politicians.
So I found it more than ironically interesting when my good friend and bosom buddy, Mike from MO, passed along this article about IBM (Related article below). Juxtapose the irresponsibility of the majority of our “representatives” in Congress to the responsible actions of one of our corporate citizens. Maybe this is the way we will have to bring sanity and patriotism to bear – show the Beltway numbskulls what responsible people do when a country (and the world) is in crisis. The unfortunate irony is that the liberal mindset of over-regulating anything that might threaten their ambitions may not even allow this gift to be put to use! Are there suspicions that IBM may have some misguided strings tied to this offer? Nope, I don’t think that’s the case – it’s more likely that the Left does not want to be embarrassed by responsible acts from the citizenry. Certainly the buffoons that live predominantly on the left side of the Congressional aisles would never stoop that low! Or then again, maybe there isn’t enough pork tied to the gift like the $21billion that they have deceitfully used at the expense of our soldiers!
Thank you IBM – on behalf of our brave soldiers and from a country desperately seeking leadership from its government.

IBM gives feds $45M in translation tech
To honor an employee’s son who was badly wounded in Iraq, IBM Corp. plans to give the U.S. military $45 million worth of Arabic-English translation technology that the Pentagon had been testing for possible purchase.
The offer — made from the highest reaches of the company directly to President Bush — is so unusual that Defense Department and IBM lawyers have been scouring federal laws to make sure the government can accept the donation.
The story begins one night in late February, when Army Sgt. Mark Ecker Jr., 21, on his second tour in Iraq, was on patrol in Ramadi.
Preparing to raid a house, Ecker’s unit lined up along a side of the building. But an explosive device had been hidden in the wall, and when it went off, it wounded several soldiers. Ecker eventually lost both legs below the knee.
Ecker’s father, an IBM mainframe sales specialist in East Longmeadow, Mass., shared the story of his son’s ordeal with co-workers, and word spread through the company. Eventually it reached Chairman and CEO Samuel Palmisano.

[...] A H/T to The Absurd Report for posting this for us to find. Although we found it a little late. But then it is never too late for something that echoes what is the American spirit that appeared as though in many places and hearts was on the decline.
