Memo to Senate’s pro-immigration Senators

Across Texas, the debate over illegal immigration has spilled into county commission hearings and hospital board meetings. A study ordered by commissioners in Harris County, which includes Houston, found that about one-fifth of the patients in its health system last year were immigrants without documents, most of them from Mexico. Their numbers had increased 44 percent in three years, the study found, and their care had cost the county $97.3 million, about 14 percent of the health system�s total operating costs.

In California, hospitals spent at least $1.02 billion last year on health care for illegal immigrants that was not reimbursed by federal or state programs, according to federal government estimates. Hospital officials there said the ailing health care system was being pushed to its limit.

The appeasers have their Depends in knot because Bush hasn�t sent Condi to the Middle East for peace talks. I think the Prez is on the right course by dragging his feet and giving Israel a chance to finish the job.

Any peace talks at this time is premature, besides who is she going to talk to and about what? Any cease-fire at this time would only give the terrorists a chance to regroup and rearm.

Besides the papers are full of summer sales and the girl needs some new clothes, and then there is a need for matching shoes, purses and hats. Get the credit cards out girl, it is time for some power shopping.

The Only Exit Strategy

I am tired of watching numerous television interviews of “so called” Lebanese/Americans rending their garments, waving their arms in the air and decrying the quality of service they are receiving from the US Embassy in Beirut regarding the timing and level of discomfort of their evacuation from Beirut to Cyprus.

These are the very same “geniuses” that poo pooed the Department of State Travel Advisory for Lebanon which “strongly urges that given the inherent instability and potential for armed conflict in the region, travel to and within Lebanon should be avoided.”

On the other hand, although more than 1,000 Hizbollah launched rockets have landed in Israel, I am unaware of any US government evacuation plans for Israeli/Americans presently in Israel, nor am I aware of these people requesting US government assistance. Could this possibly demonstrate a difference in mentality between Arab and Jew? One accepts individual responsibility and is self-reliant, while the other is incapable of accepting responsibility and depends completely upon external forces for their very survival; and, while being assisted, criticize the quality of that very same assistance. Fascinating!

Although that�s the quotable moment of this exchange between Tony Snow and Helen Thomas, the entire thing is worth watching simply for its entertainment value alone. It�s old school Helen Thomas, trying to �Scott McClellan� Tony Snow. And somehow Tony has already mastered the art of dealing with the queen of combativeness and irrationality. It�s really quite impressive.
