No, Senator McCain, this is not about you and your career. By the Bear

I have posted a lot of articles about the ramifications of Senate’s proposed legislation regarding detainee “Interrogations” at Gitmo and elsewhere. I have focused on this because it is a matter of extreme urgency that concerns our National Security.

I consider the National Security of the United States as the most paramount issue facing the country today and all other issues are minor in comparison.

The War against Terrorism is a war of intelligence gathering and without attaining information from as many sources as possible (basically from the detainees being held) there is no way to protect this country from future attacks.

Somehow, this country has managed to avert attacks against our homeland for the past five years since 9-11-01 and credit must be given to those who have worked diligently in stopping the numerous plots we have all heard about. But without giving them the tools to work with we are inviting disaster.

The “Interrogations” program is on the verge of collapse because Congress has failed to act in this area responsibly. The main obstruction is Senator John McCain who for multiple reasons has interceded on behalf of the ‘Terrorist Rights.’ McCain is blinded by his personal experience as a prisoner of war, who was tortured in Viet Nam, his political ambitions and what I believe is a vendetta against America for his loss in the Presidential primaries of 2000.

His reasons and for whatever they may be; McCain has put himself above the welfare and security of this country. No, Senator, this is not about you and your career. But yes, Senator, you will be blamed if something unforgivable happens (H/T: Power Line).

I would be remiss here if I did not reiterate, we are not talking about torturing prisoners because Torture is Illegal. What we are talking about is defining what can be done legally in the “Interrogations programs.” A definition is a necessary tool for the interrogators for without it the program comes to a full stop.

Congress was fully aware since June that this was a problem that had to be addressed. They will only be in session for a few more weeks and then they will adjourn for the election. If this is not settled now the next time it will be addressed is next year. We can not afford to fly bind for that long of a period of time.

As a follow-up, I have posted several editorials regarding the Interrogations” program for your consideration
