Jack Murtha is a Fool By the Bear

Everyone seems to tread lightly when is comes to Congressman Jack Murtha because he served his country with service in the military.
That was then and this now….. And now his actions and statements are those of a partisan hack and a senile old fool who is aiding the enemies of this country.
I happen to see an interview with General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who was asked about Murtha’s latest statement, if he would join the military today he replied “No.”
Pace said, “When a respected leader like Mr. Murtha, who has spent 37 extremely honorable years as a Marine, fought in two wars, has served the country extremely well in the Congress of the United States – when a respected individual like that says what he said, and 18- and 19-year-olds look to their leadership to determine how they are expected to act, they can get the wrong message.”
Pace’s answer was direct and polite that Murtha’s statement would hurt the moral of the troops but that is not what his body language said.
Pace paused for a moment to collect himself and you could see emotion in his voice and face immediately but he kept his composure like the professional that he is.
Pace can’t say this but I can; Benedict Arnold was a highly decorated war hero and Lee Harvey Oswald was a Marine veteran.
And from the past
“Experience proves that the man who obstructs a war in which his nation is engaged, no matter whether right or wrong, occupies no enviable place in life or history. Better for him, individually, to advocate ‘war, pestilence, and famine’ than to act as obstructionist to a war already begun…. The most favorable posthumous history the stay-at-home traitor can hope for is — oblivion.” — Ulysses S. Grant, Personal Memoirs
“Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hanged.”
~~ President Abraham Lincoln
“We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
~~ Samuel Adams, speech at the Philadelphia State House [now called Independence Hall], August 1, 1776

And this video from Michelle Malkin “Is Priceless.”
As I noted in the post just below, Sgt. Mark Seavey confronted Democrat Reps. Jim Moran and John Murtha at a town hall meeting in Arlington, Va., earlier this week and left the moonbats momentarily speechless. Greyhawk transcribed Sgt. Seavey’s comments. I have now isolated and captured the video clip from C-Span for educational purposes and for posterity:
And the Big Dog asks Where Was Murtha Then?
Jack Murtha, the Congressman who called for the immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq, was interviewed this weekend and when asked if he would join the military today he replied “No.” I am assuming they meant if he were a young man again but with the MSM, one never knows. As for Murtha, I am sure he would not join today given his attitude of surrender. What I find interesting is that he implied that the lack of combat experience of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld might have affected their decision making abilities. Is Congressman Murtha telling us that Combat experience is a necessity for President, Vice President, or Secretary of Defense?
If this is the case where was loud mouth Murtha when Bill Clinton was taking heat for never having served. Clinton had no military experience because he dodged the draft, a fact glossed over by the same MSM who impugns Bush’s National Guard service as draft dodging. Where was Murtha when Clinton fouled up the situation in Iraq by lobbing missiles in every once in a while to divert attention from his troubles here at home? Where was Murtha when Clinton was involving us in Bosnia, a mission that is on-going? Where was this man telling us that Clinton fouled up the military when he gutted it? I do not recall hearing this hero telling us how Clinton’s lack of military service was a problem in the decision making that took place in that corrupt administration.
I guess Murtha is part of the Clinton rewriting history team. Jack, you are entitled to your opinion but you should at least remain consistent. Consistency gives you credibility, a quality your past military service can only give you so much of. I will say this Jack, it is time for you to retire and go home. Your tired rhetoric and constant belly-aching make you a disgrace to the Congress and to the men and women who have more courage than those who would not join.
And John Podhoretz asks THE NEW DEM SPIN ON IRAQ
Since Murthamania went the way of the Bay City Rollers, elected Democrats need a new line on Iraq. And they’ve found one. They’re against our staying in Iraq indefinitely, and let me tell you, they don’t care who knows it. They’re standing tall against all those who say America should stay in Iraq forever. Richard Durbin just said as much on CNN’s “Late Edition,” while in early December, Hillary Rodham Clinton put it this way: “I disagree with those who believe we should pull out, and I disagree with those who believe we should stay without end.”
This may be the lamest Dem spin yet — since there’s no one I know who believes “we should stay without end” and since the administration is all but chomping at the bit to reduce troop levels.
Come on, guys, you gotta be able to do better than this! Give us something to work with here! With political argument this pedestrian, Democrats on foreign policy are starting to look like the Washington Generals playing the Harlem Globetrotters.
