More on Foley’s Follies By the Bear

First let me say this so nobody misinterprets any of the statements in the following in article. From the e-mails I have seen and read former Congressman Mark Foley behavior is despicable, although it may be that no crime has been committed. Whether Foley is guilty of a crime or not will be determined by a Department of Justice investigation and not by political pundits who only seek to influence an election.

For sure what Foley is guilty of is using his position of power to prey upon minors and any person of morality would consider the act of pedophilia a crime against nature.

Now I would like to address a couple different things regarding the political ramifications of Foley’s follies.

Most definitely there is a double standard between Conservatives and Democrats. Conservatives and Republicans hold themselves to a much higher standard than the Democrats. This is exemplified by immediate resignation by Mark Foley who knew well that the Republican base would not tolerate this behavior for one minute longer.

I don’t want to get into the past behavior of Democrats but there is no other way to make the point of the difference between Republicans and Democrats.

Congressman Barney Frank (D) an admitted gay had a live-in male lover who operated a male prostitution ring right from the Congressman’s apartment. Not only didn’t he resign but he was supported by his fellow Democrats. He has been reelected many times over and now maintains a high position of power in the Democratic cactus.

Conservative Republicans would never accepted this type of behavior and would have forced him to resign. That is the difference.

The actions of one individual Congressman should not influence the Republican base to get out and vote in the upcoming election. You may be disgusted and ticked off at the Republicans, as I am also from time to time but this will not stop me from voting and it should not stop you either. Foley is gone forever and he is not the issue; the issues are the War on Terrorism and National Security, Border Security, the Economy, Social Security, Taxes and you get the idea. The law will deal with Mark Foley.

The whole timing of this scandal was orchestrated by the Democrats with an aim at the Conservative Republican base to make you mad at the Republicans and stay home on Election Day.

Consider this, if the Democrats gain control of the House, Nancy Pelosi is two heart beats away from becoming President of the United States or should I say two impeachments away.

SideBear: As one who follows politics closely, I always joke around with friends that I am a charter member of the “Scandal of the Month Club.” By this I mean Washington is usually good for at least one big whopper/scandal/leak/NY Times release of classified information/a smear job a month.

By the end of next week Foley follies will be history and we will all move on to the next “Scandal of the Month.”

Sex Scandals: The Difference Between Democrats and Republicans

Mark Foley is gone and good riddance. One can argue the nuances of his departure, but nonetheless he simply is gone. This is as it should be for something so disgusting. Mark Foley is a Republican.

I believe some years Congressman Gary Stubbs was caught having sexual intercourse with a page. He was censured, but he did not resign, nor was he forced out office until quite some time later he decided to retire at the end of one of his elected terms.

The killing of Mary Jo Kopechne by Ted Kennedy some 38 years ago was so much “water under the bridge.” He remains the much lionized and debauched senior Senator from Massachusetts. He wasn’t forced out and he didn’t resign.

How about Congressman Barney Frank? His male live-in lover was operating a male prostitution ring right from the Congressman’s home. He pretended not to know, was reprimanded and remains today one of the pillars of the democrats in the House.

Then there was Bill Clinton. How many in his administration or circle of associates were imprisoned, left the country or pleaded the Fifth Amendment or ultimately were pardoned by him? The idea of doing the honorable thing an resigning never entered his mind and he had no problem putting the country through the sordid impeachment process for his own self satisfaction. Remember the vote when strictly down party lines.

My point is that Republicans either resign by their very own devices or their leadership forces them from office. They have been told “get thee gone” and next you know they are hauling ass off to the asylum or Auntie Emms in Kansas. Not so the democrats, for the most part they become victims and the electorate through the liberal media, is told to feel sorry for them and that their abhorrent behavior is something to forgive and that they bravely are fighting whatever menace they are fighting and we should all pray for them to make it back so they can carry on their good works.

Yep, there is a double standard and watching the democrats feign moral outrage is a hypocritical spectacle to behold indeed.

And Flopping Aces says, Some Serious Crying From The Left & The Right

Disgrace for every Republican member of Congress? Oh come on, puhlease. Stop the hysteria. Because ONE Republican turned out to be gay and had a thing for teenage men does not mean you can throw a blanket over the whole party. If that was the case then the blanket could have been thrown over the Democrats many times over since Studds and all the way up to Jefferson.
