I just have one question for Congressman John Murtha, “Whatever happened to the concept in the American judicial system that the accused is innocent until proven guilty?”
Last night on Chris Matthews ‘Hardball ‘ the Congressman tried and convicted some U.S. Marines of murder before an ongoing investigation has been completed. Has the Congressman has completely dismissed the idea that they could be possibly innocent?
Here is what he said….
REP. JOHN “JACK” MURTHA: Well, I’ll tell you exactly what happened. One Marine was killed and the Marines just said we’re going to take care – we don’t know who the enemy is, the pressure was too much on them, so they went into houses and they actually killed civilians. And, and –
MATTHEWS:—was this My Lai? Was this a case of – when you say cold blood Congressman, a lot of people think you’re basically saying you got some civilians sitting in a room around a field and they’re executed.
MURTHA: That’s exactly it.
I cannot imagine a more irresponsible statement from Congressman Murtha given that the investigation is still open. The Congressman should explain his sources, or face the charge that he has judged the men involved before the evidence is even compiled.- Hugh Hewitt
Expose the Left has the video of Rep. Murtha’s condemnation of the US Marines.

I’ve been reading the blogging world’s reaction to John Murtha accusation that the Marines killed innocent civilians in cold blood. I think his words are absolutely dispicable while this is still under investigation. If individuals are guilty of this acts, I hope they get the punishment befitting them. However, I will not condemn anyone (as murderers especially) unless the world is crystal clear on the facts.

I woke up this morning and even more people have been posting on Murtha. It comes down to exactly two camps. On the “right” uniform outrage that a US Congressman would publicize an investigation – before it is complete – and declare the people involved guilty.
Not one – not one single one of those bloggers has said one word saying that the matter should not be investigated. Every single one – unanimously across the board – has said that if true the guilty should be put on trial. NOT ONE has called for covering anything up. Every single one has been incensed at a US Congressman endangering US soldiers by releasing information that should not even be discussed until the investigation is complete.

Murtha has no honor left, no dignity, and will never be considered as a Marine except by his liberal buddies who would hate him for wearing that uniform in the first place. While an investigation is ongoing he comes out and proclaims the Marines guilty.
