Election November 2006: Part II of II By the Bear

Now let me get this off my chest

I am one pissed off Conservative and not a happy camper when it comes to the Republicans in Washington and this includes “W”.

The Republican Party has abandoned the principles which got them elected and control of the House in 1994. Remember Newt’s “Contract with America?” Smaller government and controlled spending.

What we have today is the exact opposite of the “Contract with America” and a bunch of Republicans imitating a Democratic Congress.

And as far as “W” is concerned, I supported the invasion of Iraq and I still stand with him that it was the right thing to do. The only problem I have with the war is the way we have fought it. Political correctness and politeness do not belong on the battlefield. The only thing this enemy understands is brute force and annihilation. I am confident that history will vindicate the smears against George Bush who I believe is a honest man and a straight shooter.

I also stand with “W” on his tax cuts which is why the economy rebounded from the Clinton recession. But what I fear the RINOs in Congress who will not make the tax cuts permanent. They see tax increases as a way of spending more money which will actually have the exact opposite effect.

Now this where I disagree and have a problem with “W”. Newly elected President Bush came to Washington with the idea he was going to be a compassionate conservative. This was Daniel walking into the Lion’s den.

Compassion is word reserved for civilized human beings and there is no civility in Washington. Congresspeople will slap you on the back with one hand and stab you in the back with the other. They will suck your eyeballs out for a vote. Compassionate Conservatism sucks.

The first example of compassionate conservatism was when he let Teddy Kennedy write the “No Child Left Behind” Bill. This bill is nothing more than a boondoggle which pours money down a school system sewer. It does nothing to help elevate learning because the real problem with the government school system has never been addressed which is there is no accountability required from teachers and educators. And what has Uncle Teddy done since then, his rhetoric against Bush has been filled with lies and hatred.

The Bush Administration passed one of the biggest Entitlement Programs in recent history called Medicare Prescription Drug Program. This was an unnecessary program which will add trillions of dollars to our National Debt which our children will be burdened with. So much for smaller government and controlled spending.

Illegal Immigration- Bush has gone tone deaf on this issue. I don’t buy the argument that this country needs the cheap labor to do the jobs that the American people won’t do. With the cheap labor comes the responsibility of paying for schooling and health care for these families which has caused budget busting for the Border States. And let’s not dismiss the National Security concerns that we all have, are there terrorist walking across our border with weapons and worse?

The is one issue where you will find that both Democrats and Republican voters agree upon, now we have to get the politicians to stop shoving Illegal Immigration down our throats.

The government and spending is growing by leaps and bounds and this is not what we bargained for with the Republicans.

I don’t want anyone to misinterpret what I have written above about George Bush, I voted for him in 2000 and 2004. And if he where running again in 2008, I would vote for him again over any thing the Democrats have to offer. I think the good Lord above smiled upon America by having given us “W” at a time of the 9/11 crises, especially considering the alternative. My disagreement with him is on domestic issues of bigger government and spending but he does get high marks from me on the economy.

Now that I have said my piece and gotten this off my chest and if you agree with me, what should a voter do, vote for the lesser of the lesser of two evils, conservatives.
