The Phase Blog Time v. Mainstream Media Time was originally coined by John Podhoretz of the New York Post in an article written on October 24, 2006 which can be read here.
An excerpt from the article…..
-
If your clock’s set to Mainstream Media Time, you believe for a certainty that the Democrats are poised to win 20 to 40 seats in the House of Representatives, thereby taking control of that body for the first time in 12 years. You also think Democrats are on the cusp of winning six Senate seats to take control of that chamber as well.
If your clock is set to Blog Time, you believed all that at the start of last week. By last Thursday, however, those of you on Blog Time began to discern a change: Suddenly, things weren’t quite so bad for Republicans or quite so great for Democrats.
SideBear: I have a minor disagreement with John, Blog Time started to see a swing in the election several weeks ago, as I said minor.
What is Blog Time and How Does It Work?
Blog Time is instant; it is a form of communications that relegates Mainstream Media Time to the Stone Age. If you read a website like this and others like this to get your political news you are on Blog Time. Let me explain…..
Each day my e-mail box is filled with sometimes as many as a hundred e-mails from people mainly in the USA (My e-mail friends) and some from far off places like Australia and New Zealand. This website has received views from some 90 different countries around the world. But let’s get back to the subject at hand…..
My e-mail friends are Conservatives like me who feed me information daily about political news for this website. We communicate back and forth and this provides with some insight on what is happening in Virginia, Ohio, Texas and every other State in the Union. It is like having one hundred reporters spotted in different locations around the country with instant information.
I just simply act as a conduit of information that I receive and compare it with election polls and analysis to reach a conclusion.
Secondly, there is a system of what is called trackbacks and pings that bloggers use which alerts other bloggers that we have just put an article on line. The also is an instantaneous form of spreading the news, I can alert 50 other websites in a matter of seconds. The marvels of modern technology and the internet!
Mainstream Media Time by comparison works at a snails pace, most of what you read in local papers is reproduced news from the New York Times who provides some of the main feeds for the news.
So What Does This All Mean?
What you are witnessing is the day of the new information age. You are going to get a conservative point of view from me but with one click you can get an opposing point of view, then it is up to you to decide.
There is a gigantic fight looming on the horizon, should the Democrats ever gain control of Washington there will be an all-out effort to put controls on internet bloggers because they once had total control of the biased news being printed and things are changing.
I can foresee the day when an army of Democratic Lawyers file lawsuit after lawsuit against bloggers for trumped up reasons forcing many websites to shut down from the shear cost of legal defense fees and that is exactly what their aims is, to stifle opposing points of view to their agenda.
About My Internet Friends
This is a good opportunity to say thank you, we all share one thing in common, a love of country and a concern for the future of our children. A hat tip to you all.![]()
I will follow up in a day or so with How Blog Time helps predict election results.
